Re: beeping noise coming up in recording
This is a stumper. Usually I can come up with a crazy-wild scenario that can cause a problem like this, but I got nothing. I know it's important because you're at dead stop until we figure it out. While the machine is making those noises, burn another voice test. There is to be something we're missi...

Re: Noise Floor change after Normalizing

Publisher's Lunch Author's Guild Reddit The Guardian Report of ACX Private Email Post It's disturbing when I view the dense legalese on acx.com and a se...

Re: Noise Floor change after Normalizing
As of The Sickness, ACX changed their policies. They no longer offer a full and complete analysis of a short sound test. They offer ACX Audiolab which is a cousin to Audacity's own ACX-Check. Both of them do a technical/mechanical test and neither one will analyze the quality of your voice. No Human...

Re: Noise Floor change after Normalizing
Krystal Wascher's book That may explain where all those seemingly identical studio setups are coming from. Title? Background Noise (noise floor) volume and your voice volume become glued to each other once you record your performance. If you boost one volume, the other will go up, too. That's why i...

Re: Headphones
The 2i2, 3rd Gen claims to be able to live mix the computer playback with the performance. Some interfaces will not do that. Just the fact that your computer speakers are working means you have a setting wrong somewhere. Go into Audacity > Preferences > Devices and see where Audacity is sending the ...

Re: How to: Stereo recording from microphone and speakers?
If the sound coming out of the speakers is from a chat program such as Zoom or Skype, the comm application itself may actively prevent you from doing the recording. This is a common request from people trying to produce a Zoom podcast—and failing.

Re: Where can I learn how to rip concert DVDs to flac?
There is the desperation method of playing the work and recording it in real time using the "Recording Streaming Audio" techniques. These an be a little rough to do on a Mac, but it can be done. It's not classic "ripping," and you have to be willing to spend over 60 minutes copying an hour show. htt...
