Re: Recording on only one channel

It's a typo. In Mac, that's Audacity > Preferences > Devices. It's not under the Edit menu.

Re: Killing hard clipping

The only issue is that if more than 50% of all samples fit into the "clip" category, it will not sound as good. I don't see why any sensible person would let that happen, though, and any attempts to repair audio that badly damaged would not make sense. How long have you been on the forum?...

Re: Creating Audio File from Raw Data

I mistakenly put an important file in the recycle bin
Was it the AUP file? That's the file that Audacity uses to put all the little AU files back together.

Re: Can't seem to save whole recording

Audacity doesn't Save sound files. To get a real sound file you have to Export one. If you need an MP3 file, you also need extra software for that.

Re: My Recording Level Seems Too Low

You could be suffering from Windows trying to help you with your recording. Vista and Win7 have conferencing settings which try and tailor voice responses for conferencing, Skype, etc. It's precisely not what you want for theatrical recording. Re: My Recording Level Seems Too Low

You may have glided right past the problem. Yes, the raw capture seems to be overly hard, crisp and bright, but my snowball doesn't do that. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/blueSnowball.wav A reading from the specifications reveals a slight "haystack" vocal response which puts thi...

Re: Removing Vocals

Stop right now and install Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unstable on newer computers. Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here... http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can install both audacity 1.2 an...

Re: DVD audio ripper

Since this is a Windows machine (he said in his usual idiosyncratic way), what's wrong with Recording What's Playing On Your Computer?

It's real time capture, but it does work.

Re: Killing hard clipping

Don't let me stop you.

How are you going to figure out if there is clipping damage in order to know when to hide it?

I think I may have just named your product. Clip Hide.

Audacity Files

That Audacity AUP sound file format must be pretty terrific given the number of people using it.
