Re: Very muffled audio from concert recording; can it be fix
When television news people have to shoot stuff like this and they can't get a desk feed, they use special microphones and attenuators to keep everything from overloading and distorting. Many rock bands don't care if people try to record their concerts because a vast majority of the recordings get w...

Re: Can't get rid of Audacity as a start up program
I didn't quite follow that. You uninstalled Audacity and it starts on computer boot anyway? How did you uninstall Audacity?
You know you posted an Audacity 1.2 question in the 1.3 forum?

Re: Performing a paste mix
Just to define the terms. You want to paste new music into an existing timeline so that they 50% mix when played? No. You can Tracks > Add New > Audio Track (it has a shortcut key) and then paste the new audio into that. You can use the Time Shift Tool to slide the music into position and all the ot...

Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics
I find it difficult to follow you - perhaps I shouldn't try. That's probably safe. When the creative right-brain takes over the cat usually hides under the duvet. DId you actually aggregate the two UCA 202's in Audio MIDI Setup? I thought they were then supposed to show up as a single "Aggy&qu...

Re: Failure to load .aup files
It still refuses to open these files. People who use those exact words generally think that AUP is a music file. It's not. It's a management file that points to your _data folder and all the other music files you used in your show. You can open your AUP file in TextEdit and read it. Here's a simple...

Re: Any Need To Install Latest Version
hopefully someone with some time that uses 98 can help you. That is the problem, isn't it? They're getting harder to find as the older hardware fades into the sunset and takes the legacy operating systems with it. I can say that I took all the instructions and went by the book. Not exactly. We gave...

Re: BWF riff tag Qs
BWF is sometimes called Broadcast WAV. That's a much more advanced product that natively supports multiple output channels, metadata, very large file sizes, etc.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_Wave_Format
Audacity doesn't support that. It's a Feature Request.

Re: Audio signal control advice
That's a full-on production mixer. I'm sure if we looked long enough, we could find a cheaper mixer that does the same thing. The trick is finding an "8" or bigger and a "4" or bigger in the same part number. That's four stereo input channels and two stereo output channels. For e...

Re: Audio signal control advice
Here you go. This Mackie Onyx should do it. http://www.mackie.com/Products/onyxiseries/photos/Onyx%201640i%20Top.jpg Eight stereo inputs and four sub-groups and you can use the subgroups as clean outputs. That would give you Left-Right (stereo) number 1 and Left-Right (stereo) number 2. You can swit...

We do similar jobs in our edit suites, the difference being we only have single stereo destinations -- the room speakers. We've been known to use simple mixers like this one from Mackie... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/mackie-1202-vlz3-compact-mixer/630131000000000?src=3WWRWXGB&ZYXSEM...
