That's not to say you can't do it, you just may not be able to do it with Windows built-in services (any more).

Re: Specify disk for recording
Use FireWire. FireWire was developed to do jobs like this. It's fast and it's fully bidirectional, unlike USB. I'm trying to remember whether or not my iBook had FireWire. I don't remember. USB isn't good because it only sends data one direction at a time and has to periodically wait while it turns ...

Re: (non Audacity) Post-processing trouble
While the ear doesn't respond well to phase problems, the effect isn't zero. Sound system with low phase shift are frequently described as more "open" and "clear" and less "restricted." This is also the reason square wave testing keeps going into and out of favor. It go...

Re: (non Audacity) Post-processing trouble
Anything that goes below 20 Hz is an engineering research tool rather than something for entertainment The Crown DC 300 'product' is a shake table driver. Not a speaker amplifier. The audio people found it and ran with it. True, it didn't sound like anything else on the market. Nowhere is it writte...

Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics
I lost my second UCA202 to an installation at work. It belongs to them. I may be able to get another one from an install going out of service.

Re: Audacity "Suddenly closing"
You restarted Windows or you restarted Audacity?
Restart Windows. If you've been doing heavy production for a long time, did you fill up your hard drive?
Start > Computer > Right-click the c: drive > Properties.

Re: Best Practices for Narration Recording?
Obviously, the interface itself has a gain knob. It's not at all obvious because you didn't tell us what it was. What is it? What's the microphone? Who made them? Model numbers? The -10dB switch is for playing a trumpet into your microphone. It helps avoid overload and distortion. You won't need th...

Re: Stereo Mix enabled, still not Recording!
This is our version of the instructions. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer It's pretty odd that you can select Stereo Mix and still nothing happens. That light-gray column to the right of each device is a sound meter, right? Does your Stereo Mix bounce when yo...

Re: Taming the Wild Voice Recording
There is plenty of headroom at the mixer. Of the four level lights -21, 0, +6, and CLIP, we never get past flickering the -21 light. The first place where level is a very serious problem is at the UCA-202.
