Re: Re-Creating a Cultural Icon
Assuming you already have recorded your voice, you can add Effect > Echo or Effect > GVerb to your show. That will give you the sudden 'talking in a really big room' effect. Mess with the sliders and adjustments to get the work to sound like you want. You have to keep applying the effect to see what...

Re: Why are my bass tones getting a high distortion?
That's kind of why we wanted to know how you have all this stuff connected together. If you have bass boost or processing in two effects boxes one after the other, you could get an additive effect and the bass signals would be nuclear by the time you got to the end. Or it may not even get that far. ...

Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics
I got about a half-hour before I have to do something else. I did resolve one oddity. If both the System panels and Audio MIDI are in analog land when I plug the USB adapter in, everything pretty much stays put. However, if I was on the USB adapter and unplug it , the machine will default to the ana...

Re: Lost .aup File
Could it be named the project before this one? Are you sure you're in Audacity 1.3? Audacity 1.3 starts asking you all about filenames, locations, and folders when you do that. It forces you to identify the name and location. Try it. Open Audacity cold. Generate > Tone. Try to close Audacity and it ...

Re: Why are my bass tones getting a high distortion?
One of the ways of troubleshooting is to make a very, very simple system from what you have and see if that's OK. Take equipment out of the chain and play guitar and sing into the microphone for example. If that's OK, put some of the other pieces in and try that. Microphone > Mixer > Digitizer > Com...

Re: Why are my bass tones getting a high distortion?
Never mind the tests. Your work has an insanely high sound peak at 62Hz -- very low bass. It's way higher than all the other musical tones in your work , meaning it might be a defective effects box or generator. I can understand how you would miss it because 60Hz is barely audible on a normal sound ...

Re: Why are my bass tones getting a high distortion?
The SM57 is a moving-coil "dynamic" microphone and unlikely to overload short of the recordists experiencing pain from the volume. The electronics are far more vulnerable. Do you get any red lights on the mixer? The waveforms on the timeline should never hit 0 during recording or productio...

You can get screeching feedback if you have your speakers and microphone running at the same time. Does it still do it if you use (carefully) headphones?

Unless you removed it, Audacity 1.2 may still be there. You could open it up and read the settings you used to use.
