What kind of microphone is it? I have a Logitech Desktop USB Microphone. What do you have?
You shouldn't fall in love with recording a voice with background music until you get the basics working. You can create background music to go with your voice recording and mix them later.

Re: Audacity 1.3 beta is not displaying bluecat stereo choru
Just a note that because it's a VST effect is no guarantee that it's going to work under Audacity. Most of them will probably work. I don't have a sample of one that does. I probably should.

Re: Level meter does not adjust!
Are you sure you're using Audacity 1.3? The much older Audacity 1.2 could have problems like this.
You get good recordings, but the microphone slider volume control seems to not do anything? You want to change volume because you're too low or too high (I know it's an odd question).

Re: Input source
When someone has system trouble like this with Audacity 1.2, we push you off immediately to Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unstable on newer computers. Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here... http:...

Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics
You may note that I send the playback sound out to the USB device in some of the tests. I created a test cable that allows me to listen to the USB Line-Out to make sure the sound actually gets there. It does.

Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics
My head hurts. Assuming no unfortunate disconnects or other evil actions: No USB. I set up Audacity to Line-In and Line-Out. Systems Panel is Line-In and Line-Out. Audio MIDI Setup is Line-In and Line-Out. All three panel sliders follow each other, input or output. It doesn't matter which one you ad...

Re: Distortion when recording
If it happens on more than one Mac, your FastTrack may be ill. You have the symptoms of the USB bitstream going insane briefly and causing all the binary clocks and digital services to go nuts. This can be caused by a bad connection or a crimped USB cable. Bad electronics. Hard to say.

Re: Itunes and Windows media player
You left out some words. Audacity will not Save a sound file. To get a sound file for playback in iTunes or Windows Media, you have to Export one from Audacity.

Re: Loading a URL Source to record
Audacity has no external sound or internet management and it barely has a timer and then only for one show. I use WireTap and other software products designed to do this. Then I take the show into Audacity for cutting and effects and sometimes creating a sound file for burning to a Music CD. Audacit...

Re: A Plug in has distorted a track?
Drums are rough for an automatic recorder to deal with. The drum hit is there and gone by the time the auto level set realizes that the sound is way too hot and needs to be managed. You should probably set the auto levelers in the Zoom to Off and use the meters on the front to set levels for drums. ...
