Re: Timer
What happens if I make an error? I'm big on error correction -- or notification. I'd like errors to turn red rather than ripple. Or the ability to ripple back. I think that's what happened to me in my "simple" capture recording. It's entirely possible I selected too many hours and the date...

Re: splitting recording headache
I'm not entirely sure where you're stuck, but if you've never done this before, we'll be talking different words for a while. The way I find a clip in the middle of a long piece is find the waveforms for the start and end through zooming and placing labels at the two points. Zoom out and drag-select...

Re: splitting recording headache
I have saved it as a mp3 for later burning to CD. OK. Or maybe not OK. Audacity captures and internally uses a very high quality, uncompressed format. Music CD is a very high quality uncompressed format. MP3 is a compressed format that adds distortion and damage. You should be exporting WAV for thi...

Re: no keyboard shortcut to "Export as MP3"
That's because Export as MP3 isn't in Audacity. MP3 Export is only available after you intentionally modify Audacity with the addition of the lame software package.
If you don't do through all that, there is no MP3 and the shortcut would do nothing.

Re: Overwrite Tracks
You can export whatever you want by drag-selecting a portion of the show and then File > Export Selection.

Re: Exporting to MP3 without certain tracks
Vocal Removal fails more often that it succeeds. If the singer isn't in the left-right stereo center of the show, you lose. If your show is mono and not stereo, you're dead. Put the show on the timeline. If you get a stereo track, do the two bouncing green meters match exactly? Then you have a two-t...
