Re: Spontanous break up like sound rapidly stopping & starti
Before you reformat, go into drive properties and make sure you're not filling up your drive. Audacity (and most production programs) will not run on a full drive. Time for housekeeping. Do you really need four copies of all those videos? Then defragment the drive. You may need to do this more than ...

Re: Song DL from iTunes wont open
Unless you have a thousand year old Mac, you should be in Audacity 1.3 and also download the FFMpeg software. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1.2 can be unstable on newer computers. Download and install the latest Audacity 1.3 from here... h...

Re: Noise removal not working in Windows 7
Maybe this is a bug with windows 7? You should avoid using the "B" word until we've exhausted all the other possibilities. Can you find a section of the performance that has only noise? Drag select it. Open Effect > Noise Removal and click Get Noise Profile. Close Noise Removal. Drag-sele...

Re: Launching Audacity by opening a file doesn't import the
The problem appears to be with Audacity's launcher Your Audacity launcher. I don't believe that's the problem... If you don't know what the problem is, you don't know what the problem is not. I once followed a grandfatherly engineer around when he was doing a radio energy survey job at great cost. ...

Re: OKQ8 Sound
You should probably get us the music and we'll see what we can do with it. The final outcome will be equalization settings versus the existing quality of the work. You can't do equalization in a vacuum.

That's DC offset. It comes from your digitizer or sound card. Mine was broken when I captured that test.
You can get rid of it with Effect > Normalize > Remove DC. Don't actually normalize the sound. That's different.

Re: Noise removal not working in Windows 7
The philosophy of Noise Removal is simple, although the explanations are usually not. Find a segment with pure objectionable noise and no show. Select that and make it be the Profile. Anything you include in the profile will be removed from the show. If you select some of the violins in the profile ...

Re: Error with Audacity
That's open ended. What are you trying to record?
A good start is to set Audacity preferences to 44100, 16-bit, Stereo. Restart Audacity and try again.
Audacity defaults to a super high bitrate and some devices object to it.

Re: How to configure Input Device for Recording
(Have any other users had this type of problem??) You're the first one, you lucky dog. I was going to suggest that the system was adding the two stereo tracks to make one super level mono one, but your further testing says that's not the case. Make sure Windows Enhanced Services isn't running. Wind...

Since we have offices across the date line, it can mess with email systems. I routinely get emails that have already gotten here tomorrow.
