Re: saving

I'm not one of the Windows elves, but the words are forcing themselves past my lips: When was the last time you did a comprehensive virus scan? The long one where you can't use your machine for a while, not the wimpy one that runs in the background. Microsoft has an on-line one that you can use as a...

Re: processing numerous files

You probably need to know that Audacity does not "shorten files." It imports them and converts them to the high quality internal sound format, does the surgery, and then exports a new MP3 with the usual increase in compression damage and distortion. If your collection of MP3 files was alre...

Re: WAV Files

Anybody talented in editing can create a new recording and few people can tell what they did. The entire broadcasting and film industry works on skillful editing. There might be a tool within VLC Player that will give you File INFO. That might tell you when the last time the file was changed, not th...

Re: How to modify the spectrum of an audio?

Since nobody can hear that, many sound cards can't deal with it and you can't put it on a Music CD, what's the job? We need a better idea what you're trying to do.

Re: Recording Drums

If you're after a natural acoustic sound from the kit And unless there was a family in the house before you and had a kid that played drums and a father that built a sound-proof room (Thank you Mr. Swenson) you also have to deal with the sound of the room. You may find that you're getting significa...

Re: Trim Tool Is Grayed Out

What were you hoping to achieve? At that instant I would have selected File > Export Selected and picked a music format for the exported file. The music file -- defaulting to Microsoft WAV -- would contain just the selected part of the show.

Re: Current tracks recording over a new track

You should leave "play tracks" selected and fix the problems in Windows Control Panel. You are set to record from Stereo Mix or Mix-Out and not the audio connection to your instruments. Stereo Mix is the setting you need to use to record YouTube Videos and Internet Music. It is the exact w...

Re: Recording Drums

The super loud percussion may be picked up by more than one microphone. Drums are hard. Miking them is hard. You are trying to mic controlled explosions and it's very common to get done and ask why the drums don't have the presence and intensity of commercial recordings. That happens in post product...

Re: Clipping when recording from S/Pdif

Broadcast videotape machines do that with scaling, but they also have provision for click-stop preset or 1:1.

Does yours?

Re: Auto Start Recording from command line

Audacity 1.3 has a timer function that allows unattended recording for one show. Audacity isn't big on command line controls.
