Re: Switch off scrolling during recording

That makes me crazy, too for different reasons. It makes it difficult to find precision edit points when the display keeps flipping. Audacity Preferences > Tracks > [ ] Update Display... (de-select) Restart Audacity if you do this. Do you actually get a glitch in the recorded show? What does it look...

Re: can not open library

You are warned against automatically saving all your music in MP3 form. Just because most music on the internet is that way, doesn't mean it's best for you. MP3 is a compressed format and is very efficient and small, but always causes sound damage when used. Archives and production masters should al...

Re: can not open library

does any music software come with this already on it ? Oh yes. Most money-based software does. MP3 is copyrighted and licensed for profit by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. For Audacity to Export an MP3 sound file you have to install the separate "lame" software package. http://audacityteam.org/...

Re: How do I recover an .aup.bak file

Audacity 1.2 is seriously old and has stability problems on newer machines. Audacity 1.3 has much better disaster recovery tools. http://audacityteam.org/download/ The answer is no, probably not. If Audacity has "cleaned up" after itself, then it may not make any difference if you got the ...

Re: Recording a synth question

Yes, well. One thing at a time. You can throw sound cables around like a cowboy, or you can configure your Windows machine to record its own speakers. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_audio_playing_on_the_computer http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the...

Re: Music lag on Windows Vista

I don't know where the "other tune" is coming from, but you can get the computer to play back your own show to you by settings in the Windows Control Panels http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Windows_Vista_.2F_Windows_7 In earlier Windows, you could select yo...

Re: Music lag on Windows Vista

Lag and Latency are different. Audacity 1.3 can only tune out Latency. Lag is built into your computer. There is a tutorial about this and I'm looking for it. You can look, too. It's in Tips-Tutorials-Documentation at the top of this page. Ideally, you plug headphones into the mixer and not the comp...

Re: feedback wanted on hi-fi iPod docks

why on earth are they using FAT-32 rather than NTFS
All external drives come formatted FAT32 because unmodified Macs and Windows can write to those. Macs without extra software will not write to an NTFS volume.

Re: feedback wanted on hi-fi iPod docks

So with a Mac Mini sitting in the parlor with your choice of WiFi equipment, you can have your iPod Touch with you in the garden while you trim the ivy listening to your Herbie Mann collection. You'll be listening, the ivy will just be sitting there. If both are Authorized, you can share your entire...
