Re: Importing AC3 files
AC3 does not decode to nice, neat, tidy, convenient sound files. Dolby has dynamic effects/compression and you have to get rid of that, too. In the early days of making DVDs, this drove us nuts. "I 'just' want to make a simple DVD. how do I get rid of that Dolby Theatrical Volume Processing.......
Re: Uninstall
'Find' does not return a hit for that file. I must have one because MP3 export works."libmp3lame.dylib" to Trash.
Make sure that Desktop > Go > Home > Library > Application Support > audacity folder is gone, too. Drag that to the Trash.

Re: Microphone Audio Levels
No, no, no. Stop. The Mic-In of a Windows laptop is mono. It's "Left." It doesn't matter how many adapters you buy, the normal "Right" channel of the connection isn't sound. It's taken up by the battery connection in Windows. Second illustration. Scroll down: http://www.kozco.com...

Re: Linear loudness vertical axis in frequency spectrum?
That doesn't actually cut off everything below, say -30, that compresses everything you have into a smaller display. I wonder why the poster wants that instead of just looking at the screen.

Re: Converting Dual Mono to Mono
Broadcast (and Feature Films) realized right away they needed extraordinary metadata to keep track of production. Editing in movies is done by "Editorial." Editorial's almost exclusive job is to keep track of shots. I was working behind a console with my screwdrivers and head-mounted flash...

Back in Audacity Land, did you have two blue waves like this?

I'm going to project you connected your turntable or entertainment amplifier to the Mic-In of your Windows laptop, yes?

Re: please help.. in getting back original file
Whenever you do production, choose different filenames as you go. Everybody has their own technique for this. Sometimes I use music1, music2, music3. At work, if the music is to be used by several different people, we use date and time. 201110030815. That seems complicated, but it's really 2011 10 0...

Re: please help.. in getting back original file
We warn people constantly never to step on original work by using the same filename. Windows has a nasty habit of hiding file extensions from you to "help you." You see the original file as "s," but I bet the original file was really named s.mp3. When you Exported s.mp3, Windows ...

Re: Cannot Copy and Paste
Now you need to fill in all the proper names. "I tried copying an m4a clip from iTunes non-DRM download and paste it into an Audacity 1.3.12 default timeline."Copy and Paste from one program to another, but nothing happens on the Paste part of the process.
