Re: Headphones no longer cut out speaker.
If it's still behaving badly, it has to be in the laptop settings. Does the laptop have sound settings or control panels different from Windows? That's a very odd combination. That's usually a hardware switch, not software. Some computers use software routing and it's possible to get those confused....

Re: Audio missing after file was saved
Saved file. Opened today, it was fine. I edit this file, no problem. I save to come back later. When I come back, chunks are missing in the middle of the podcast, then an hour is gone completely. That step right there. You mean you Exported a WAV backup and then Saved a Project? Then you opened up ...

Re: corrupted files on export?
There are two ways to burn a CD. A Data CD which is a flat, shiny computer hard drive, and a Music CD which is a very special format to intentionally hold music. It's the same physical disk. You burned the wrong one. Pay attention to the burning or authoring step. Most times they will give you instr...

Re: How to remove very short bouts of silence successfully?

Re: Help with measuring speech rate
Audacity doesn't "know" what speech is. All it sees is the blue waves pretty much indistinguishable from a saxophone solo. If somebody said I needed to do this. I'd probably mark off a one minute chunk of timeline and count the syllables as the speaker progressed. You can't do this with th...

Re: How to have a pausing point
You could also split the backing track ahead of time and record the voice over that. That's probably the easiest.

Re: How to have a pausing point
Right. That's we're talking about. It happens in post production, not in real time. You would record your vocal track and go back and split the backing track (two separate tracks) and push the backing track forward so there's a hole. During the hole, it's your voice with no track. If your voice and ...
