Re: Analysis, spectrum

Analyze > Plot Spectrum will always expand to display everything it thinks in in your show -- or your selection. You can restrict the show by applying filters. Effects > Low Pass Filter > 8000 That will make a new show that gracefully dies around 8000 Hz. If you analyze the new show, the display sho...

Re: posting question

Since you're new, you post words and wait for a forum elf to authorize you to be visible to everyone else. After multiple successful postings, the authorization requirement goes away.

It keeps companies from trying to post ads for marital aids and vitamins.

Re: can I zoom into highlighted region without movement?

Try turning auto scrolling off. Audacity Preferences > Tracks > [ ] Update Display... (de-select) I have an awful time precision editing with that turned on. It's much easier when the timeline doesn't shift around underneath to "help" you. This is probably only available in Audacity 1.3 wh...

Re: No playback sound while monitoring

downloaded from CNET about three days ago. We do rather wish you'd get Audacity from the official download site. This is the same site you should get the add-ons like lame and FFMpeg. You may find the add-ons don't exactly match the Audacity you got from a different site. http://audacityteam.org/do...

Go into Audacity Preferences > Devices and see what's selected. then go into Windows Control Panels > Sound and make sure the same things are selected.

Do you use the computer for any other sound services like Skype or recording YouTube?

I can't follow that, you'll have to describe the job. "I have a theatrical radio show where the announcer is in the wrong place."

Re: Can I use it to record Noisy Neighbors?

That's messy. The dB numbers in Audacity represent absolute audio signal numbers where they "run out" at 0. All sound signals are lower than that and measured in negative numbers. -20dB is the volume of the test tone at the beginning of broadcast television video tapes. There is no connect...

Re: Getting off the ground

With Audacity open, right-click on the red recording meters and select "Start Monitoring." The meters will wake up and bounce in time with your music without sending Audacity into full record. Also, you can grab one edge of the meters and pull them much larger so you can see what you're do...

Re: Intermitent Choppy Audio

Change the hubs to zero. USB microphones and other sound services will not reliably go through hubs. The only exception is a wall-powered hub used to extend a microphone cable. In that case, the microphone is the only thing on the hub.
