Re: Podcast Setup - Mixers
The release version of that microphone has the towel replaced by a carefully trimmed Duvetyne sheet which is a dead black theatrical felt material. Spray the board with High Temperature flat black paint before you put the mic on. Done. I'm using that for a training/education capture room. The one in...

Re: Podcast Setup - Mixers
You may run into one production problem. Some sound cards have a "Mic-In" in big quotes. The sound amplifiers don't work too well and you have to boost the signal in post to get anything useable. Make sure your sound card has a switch called "+20" in a control panel somewhere. Th...

http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/3013PressureZone.jpg That's a 9" by 6" piece of plywood I had and a Radio Shack 3013 omni-directional microphone. That will plug straight into the Mic-In of your computer. You may need to fool with the towel to get good sound isolation from people pou...

Re: Podcast Setup - Mixers
You know all those movies you've been enjoying for decades? One (1) camera and one (1) sound guy. Gregory Peck says his lines into the camera, everybody stops and then Audry Hepburn says her lines into the same camera. Each sometimes multiple times until the director thinks they got it right. The mo...

Re: Recording DJ mix. Plays back in mono.
How old is the iMac? Some very early Macs has no stereo input at all. Later ones have one connection that you can switch between stereo line and mono microphone. Desktop > Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound. This is where mine is going to be different from yours. I have two separate con...

Re: Strange recording issue
Newer Windows machines have automatic sound management for conferencing, Skype, and VOIP phone calls. It completely messes up straight recording. Windows Enhanced Sound http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=41179&start=0 See if any of that is set and turn it off. Restart Audacit...

Re: Add continues click track to the song
You should make the click track first and then Import your music. You can slide the music earlier and later so the beats line up if you need that.

If it's a laptop, it's almost 100% certain you're recording the internal microphone and not the Samson.

Re: Quickest work flow for sound editing
M4A is a compressed format similar to MP3. Both create damage, more or less damage depending on the quality settings you choose. Use these two only as final export for consumption. They're delivery formats. Many of us Save a Project as a new name as the edit progresses. shot2.aup, shot3.aup. shot4.a...

Re: Audacity 1.3.13
There is a special tool to record sound playing on your computer. Some computers will not do this at all.
