Re: DVD audio to CD
You should be able to add FFMpeg to your Audacity 1.3 program to read the imbedded sound tracks from DVDs. Audacity 1.2 may not be able to deal with these jobs. The real problem is going to be after you rip your DVD. If the show is in Dolby AC3 Surround, you will get the six original theater tracks,...

Re: music not recording on track
We can't see what you're doing, so you need to step us through it. What was the problem you fixed with the driver software? What do you normally record? Do you sing or play an instrument?

Re: Making voices louder
The general rule is if you can't make out the voices now, Audacity isn't going to do you any good. Does it still sound really bad if you put your headphones on instead of computer speakers? We record conversations in theaters by making sure they're in very good quality stereo. Even if the room is no...

Re: Earth buzz only when recording
Do you have a Line-In on the computer? Blue socket? Most laptops don't. You can't use a Mic-In for this. What you're supposed to do is mount a phono preamplifier between the record player and the computer. That takes care of the hum and distortion and takes care of putting the bass notes back in the...

Re: Recording a live broadcast using VirtualDJ
I broadcast through VirtualDJ How are you broadcasting? I assume you're not going through a big metal tower on the hill? Streaming Server in the third bedroom? The DJ software seems to suggest it only works for creating a mix and then, again, I assume you're going out to a room full of dancing peop...

Re: Mono Recording from Sound Card - 50% clipping
It's overloading because you're recording the show twice. Once direct and once again through Stereo Mix. Turn Stereo Mix off in the Windows Control Panels and only select the actual microphone. The conditions for recording YouTube sound are very different than recording your live performance. The Lo...

Re: delay
The simple version of this problem is called Latency. You sing to the track and everything seems to be perfect during the recording, but the music plays back out of step or rhythm, right? Hopefully? You can correct that in Audacity 1.3, so this would be a good time to go for 'About' and make sure yo...

Re: Recording DJ mix. Plays back in mono.
Maybe we're going to nail that down a little bit. The USB headset was being used to make a dictation recording. I got the system during lunch. when the jack is in the mic in port. There is no Mic-In port. The Stereo Line-In of your Mac looks like a thin black circle with two black arrows pointing in...

Re: Recording live band practices. Need better method/equipm
You know MP3 damages the music, right? It's designed as a compressed delivery format and not a production format. That and you can't make an MP3 from an MP3, so you may be shooting yourself in the foot right at the beginning. Use a Stereo WAV process once and see if it doesn't help -- or at least so...

The H2 is famous for producing very, very nice recordings on its own, as is the H4. It's also famous for mediocre microphone amplifiers for external mics. That's not its forte. The H2 has billions of different ways to combine its internal capsules for a sound recording. Oddly, I didn't see mono in t...
