Tickle the pan control on a mono show so you now have a Virtual Stereo Show. Now go in and turn panning off, does the show snap back to mono?
If you do have Panning off and start a new show, then that Virtual Stereo business goes away, right?

Re: Exported files problem
Sudden, unexplained Computer Insanity can be caused by your hard drive filling up. When was the last time you error checked and defragmented? Are you sure you're using Audacity 1.3? Audacity 1.2 can be scary-unstable on newer computers. I don't remember where it is on Windows machines. Edit > About?...

Re: -6db Clipping
The up side is you have prepared a very clear, accurate description of the problem including numbers and descriptions. The down side is I have no clue. If you go into Audacity Preferences > Devices, are you in fact recording from the USB Sound Device, or are you recording from Stereo Mix, a holdover...

Re: inserting markers?
You might also find that the auto scrolling function will drive you nuts while you're editing. It's one of the first things I turn off when I install Audacity new.

Re: inserting markers?
Audacity doesn't have "Markers" -- I and O keys like a video editor. It does have Labels and they can be used for some of the jobs Markers do. Find one edit point and press Control-B. You should get a new track with a label in it. You can print inside that label if you wish, but that's a l...

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
my vocal volume wasn’t enough to kick in the 10dB reduction. It doesn't "kick in." The attenuator switch and attenuator switches in general are used when you expect loud sounds. They reduce the sensitivity of the microphone permanently until to you change it back. I question the choice of...

You're connected to a USB port, but are you going through a USB hub?

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
So far I've been unable to get the actual instructions for your microphone. Is it discontinued? There is a very thorough book on the seUSB2200a. If you locate a book, forward the link.

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
It's normal for a microphone with the pad (attenuator) switched on by accident.
