Re: Audio Editor Question
You can try Effect > Vocal Removal in Audacity 1.3. Audacity 1.2 is no longer directly supported. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Vocal Removal is the shortcut name. It's real, birth certificate name is "Center Pan Removal," because that's what it does. If the lead singer is in the left-...

Re: I had an older ver but I am looking at 1.3 with question
Rosetta is the service that allows you to run outdated, obsolete software on your Mac. That just means you totally have the wrong Audacity.
Audacity 1.3.13 and other helper packages like lame and FFMpeg.

Re: Voice of a dream
By the way this is one of those Hollywood "Everybody Knows" things. Everybody knows dream sequences need to have tons of special effects when in real life they look just like a straight, flat recording of the real thing. "Inception" got it right. Each layer looked pretty normal e...

Re: Voice of a dream
You can try Effects > gverb, echo or phaser -- in Audacity 1.3. Not 1.2. Half of the effect is the actor, though. Nothing kills the effect faster than the actor saying flat lines in a dream sequence. Sometimes the actor messing up is played for comedic effect. Effects and filters over a normal, conv...

Re: Recording low volume
This may or may not help. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues I remember the philosophy was a little batty, but there was a record panel and a play panel. The play panel drove the speakers and you could turn up "Line-In" and listen to your performance all day long, but u...

Re: Recording low volume
Windows XP has multiple ways to set volume for analog services. I remember there being a volume control for the pass-through speakers and it was different from the one that records the show. My bet is you just haven't found all the controls yet. Oh, and that's plus the one in Audacity (Microphone sy...

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
if my Mackie puts out 48V phantom power. Which Mackie? There is not specific manual that I can find for the sE2200a, just a general manual for all microphones. What came in the box? You can see where that would put a hitch in things. Only you can touch and feel the actual microphone. We're helpless...

Re: Cassette to Computer Help
Let me play this back to you. You got to the end of the first tape and you pressed Stop in Audacity. Is the Record button gray? When I do that, Stop and Record, Audacity starts a whole new track from the left of the timeline, not the end of the existing show. You can jam the second show into the end...

Re: -6db Clipping
Maybe not. If you have a show in the UA-25EX when you change that setting, does the show go up and down, too?Apparently, the Levels slider for the UA-25EX controls the level where the UA-25EX clips.
