Re: Audacity pickin up system sound
You can get sound craziness two different ways. First make sure your Windows machine is not trying to help you with Conferencing Services. Auto Gain and Echo Cancellation will drive you crazy because they fight you during theatrical production. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=...

Re: Removing words from speech, and maintaining the tone
You know what you might try? Low Pass filter at about 300Hz or so and then export the voice as MP3 at low bitrate -- lower than 32. Twice.

Re: Removing words from speech, and maintaining the tone
Nothing I can do with the Equalizer or Low Pass Filter helps. I can remove almost everything that contributes to intelligibility and you can still understand what he's screaming. I guess that's what makes low quality radio (and most cellphone) conversations work. I think one problem is the cadence. ...

Re: Recording from keyboard via USB
You may need the Steinberg Cubase software that came with your keyboard. They may have a proprietary interface that allows MIDI and multi-channel audio to co-exist on one connection. And you're a newbie, right? I may have started with a simpler keyboard. I looked down the list of supported features ...

Re: Recording from keyboard via USB
This will be interesting because this keyboard is both MIDI and USB Audio. Do you have two USB connections? What kind of computer are you messing with? Mac/Windows? Which one exactly? Operating System? My slightly older Yamaha (same size) has MIDI and that's what goes down the USB connection so the ...

Re: Vocals Removal results in complete silence
Try this brief clip. http://www.kozco.com/tech/LRMonoPhaset4.wav I expect cut three, the mono segment to vanish completely leaving one, two, and four. It's a test recording, so each segment is perfect. If it doesn't work, then there is something serious wrong. This is a good recording for testing yo...

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
Here it is. It's a Rolls PB23 Phantom Adapter. It has a switch to go between 12 and 48.

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
In one of the boxes I have a Phantom Inserter whose sole job is to supply 48V and pass the sound onto whatever mixer you have. That's all it does. No amplifier, limiters, etc. etc.
I'll see if I can find it.

Re: se2200a questions and concerns
For years the electronics makers have struggled to get rid of that stupid 48 volt phantom thing because it's hard to make and manage and it adds cost to the product. The problem is you need all the microphone makers to follow you to wherever you decide to go. Few did. I have a new AKG microphone tha...

Re: Audio Editor Question
You can't separate mixed voices from a production. There's no such thing as "picking out this voice" and managing it independently from the others -- save the direction thing that Vocal Removal uses. A very typical problem is somebody records an important vocal presentation with the TV on ...
