Re: Radio station coming across recording...
I noticed nowhere in there have you listened to the station long enough to get the call sign. Try on the hour and half-hour. That will save an enormous amount of work. Alternately, you need to listen long enough to figure out who's show you're listening to. If you claim Rush Limbaugh at 10AM in the ...

Re: Convert a Surround sample down to Stereo
Some of the tools "stick" in the last mode you used. Try exporting a plain stereo show and then go back and try Chains again.

Re: How do I reduce "BLARING"?
Let me predict the past. You have the VHS stereo output connections adapted to the Mic-In of your Windows laptop computer? Those two connections are incompatible with each other -- so much so that distortion is added to the show before Audacity has a chance to do anything about it. All you're left w...

Re: Podcasting with 2 USB "host" mikes and Skype "guests"
The reasons for the recommendation of two identical headsets has to do with the problems of marriage. The Aggregate Device system is going to ask you which headset you want to use as a master. It's digital, right, and the bits come down the binary tube in a neat orderly progression like marching sol...

Re: Podcasting with 2 USB "host" mikes and Skype "guests"
I've been recording and then adding music and removing mistakes and gaps in post production Excellent. You have no idea how much easier that makes it when you want to produce a polished show. There's quite a "discussion" about how to deal with Skype. The Right Way is to buy and use one of...

Re: Problem with the Vocoder effect
Tell me why we're doing that instead of just trashing the file? With Audacity closed. find audacity.cfg then open it in NotePad and edit the file so that it has only the following one line:
NewPrefsInitialized=1

Re: Radio station coming across recording...
this house has a pool! ...and more than likely, broadcast radiation. Is it possible that the electrical wiring is causing the radio station waves to be picked up? More than possible. it's likely. I strongly recommend you find out who it is. Get yourself a portable AM radio and try to match up the s...

Re: Audacity is already running error message
Sure, I run one of my advanced Mac operating systems on an external FireWire drive with data on another large FireWire drive. You can't do that with USB, though. You may not have to power down the Mac, you can Apple (upper left) > Restart. Have you ever used the Terminal program on any computer? Koz

Re: New to this game and stumped
And then you posted here to find out you shouldn't be using Audacity 1.2 anyway. Start > Documents > Downloads. Maybe. I'm one of the Mac elves, but I think that's correct. You should just trash that if you find it. It's a sore point that we're still recommending obsolete software, but there it is. ...

Re: Podcasting with 2 USB "host" mikes and Skype "guests"
Two questions we didn't touch earlier. Are you going to be streaming live, or create a show in post production and submit it later? Describe how you want to integrate a Skype call into the show. Get specific. Do you set up, "dial" and connect during the show? If not, this is where post pro...
