Re: clicking sound/noise when editing

This is a bad and good edit between two different tones. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/BadAndGoodEdit.jpg It's the abrupt break in the graceful, up and down wave that causes problems. It's not as likely to be heard as that DC thing, but that should be avoided, too. You will get a click or p...

Re: Diagnosing Audio Problems and Fixing Them

It does a good job for the most part, but I think I detect some distortions have been made to some of the dialogue. You can get rid of most of that in Audacity 1.3. Not 1.2. So we missed each other. We thought you wanted to rescue a voice performance so you could make out the words. You wanted to t...

Re: Overlapping tracks

Literally overlap, where portions of both tracks are heard at the same time? Import the first track into Audacity. Import the second track and it should arrive in a second display underneath the first. Using the Time Shift Tool (left and right black arrows), push the bottom track to the right until ...

Re: Whay have i done

im singing into a barrel. You can get that effect if you run into Windows conferencing services. Windows thinks you're trying to hold a phone call with somebody, not sing. It thinks your singing or playing is "air conditioning noise" and tries to cancel it out. That's the hollow sound. Wi...

Re: Whay have i done

You should also replug all your audio connections. You can odd sound like that if one of your connectors isn't plugged all the way in. You could also have a damaged cable. The hollow sound and the buzz could be coming from the same place. As you unplug things swab with a paper towel moistened in gla...

Re: Audacity 1.3.13 crashes at startup

Are you running Audacity from inside the DMG file? Did you go through a formal install with an Audacity folder under /Applications?

Re: Audacity 1.3.13 crashes at startup

Now you have an odd duck. Do you at least have that folder under Application Support? Did you go to the extra effort to install Portable Audacity? If you don't remember that, then probably not. Did it. The files appear to be regular MP3 files. I can open them with QT and other audio players without ...

Re: Isolating bassline

Chances of the two guitar performances being exactly the same are almost zero, but you should be able to get at least a phaser effect if you got close. Import the song and duplicate it. Command or Control-D On the second track, drag-select and delete everything but the guitar solo. Push it underneat...

Re: Install on USB drive instead of PC?

can I instal and run it off my USB stick Yes you can. Have you personally tried this? I would have said no just based on USB being a half-duplex data system. The same reason you would never run Audacity from an external hard drive (unless it was FireWire), or a network. Too many unexplained delays....

Re: Real-Time exporting

Audacity doesn't so anything in real time except record, play, and some timer jobs.

We use "vidcap" at work to do this in the video world. It's a screen capture and sound program that works in near real time. You press stop and the file or files are ready to use.
