Re: a mono track into 4 speakers?
I assume any mp3 player with mains power plus port suitable for cable to drive speakers it will work. But you are right, the power down at the end of day means a power up the next day fraught with issues of synchronicity. Hundreds of years ago, reel to reel tape machines used the mains power accura...

Re: Crash during saves, exports and mix and renders
Did you fill up your computer? If you do a regular, two-hour radio show, that's about 2GB right there and if you start editing and effects, the size goes up seriously. So that's about, say, 5GB per show. How much hard drive room do you have and when was the last time you error checked and defragment...

Re: Recommended Noise Removal levels
Would you please advise me what are your favorite and preferred levels for Noise removal? It doesn't work like that. These control are all sliders because they change with the show and there are a very broad range of adjustments. We've also found that "noise" is an interesting concept. A ...

Re: Do pre-amp mixers have a phono/line switch??
The sound comes out of a turntable intentionally distorted in order to fit the bass notes into the groove. This is the RIAA specification thing. The first equipment that the turntable hits has to be Phono-In. No options (as you're finding). There are methods of recording without a phono preamplfier,...

Re: Is there a way to filter out the sound of an inhalation?
I was going to go there, but the dialog portion sounded pretty good with no other distortions or damage.
It did sound, however, like the poster is a fifteen pack a day smoker (gasp, wheeze).

Re: Delay while recording- please help
This was an interesting discussion in the forum a while back. The hard core techies insisted that it could be done in pure software and settings, and it could be -- assuming you were on only one computer platform and had a death grip on the internal workings of the machine. I walked up to my machine...

Re: Delay while recording- please help
And some computers just work. The only way to get uncompromised Audacity overdubbing without complexity and unusual settings and software is a hardware solution. They work across all platforms and computer types. Even if you get the delay down, you have to configure the machine to mix to your headph...

Re: new track re-records 1st track again.
That happens when you record Stereo-Mix or Mix-Out or whatever your computer calls it instead of a real audio device like microphone or your sound card internal electronics. You want to record one of those things if you record YouTube or Internet audio. You don't want that if you're playing a guitar...

Re: Buying my first microphone, help please!
That black thing between her and the microphone is a pop and blast filter and helps prevent popping or cracking P sounds. A side effect is keeping the performer from swallowing the microphone, distorting consonants, and giving a breathy, gasping sound. Noise is a big problem in microphone systems be...

Re: a mono track into 4 speakers?
Creating the tracks is dead simple. Showing them to the audience isn't. Audacity and most computers will not play four tracks at once. You have to start at the display step and work backwards. That's the hard one. Two iPods was a good first step, but I've seen people try to sync them and it's not im...
