Re: Recommendations for USB A/D Converter and Mic Preamp?

I'd stick with your existing, familiar analog mixers and equipment and add the converter. For $30 USD (UCA202) you can tell if you like it or not and change around accordingly.

Re: Recommendations for USB A/D Converter and Mic Preamp?

The Behringer gives you one other feature. You can get a headphone mix for overdubbing/multitrack. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg I believe you can do the same jobs with the UCA222 and the only difference is the S/PDIF connection. They word it funny in the specificatio...

That one is DC offset. It's an extreme versions of the waves on the left of this illustration... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/DCOffset.jpg ..and yours goes up instead of down. When you record silence, the blue waves are supposed to settle around the 0.00 point labeled on the left of the graph....

Re: High pictch tones

The problem with processing and equalizing on small speakers is you tune the show for only those speakers. The next listener with a bigger system hears all kinds of oddball rumbling or bass effects that went right by you because you can't hear them. If you have trouble lifting and moving your sound ...

Re: Removing background vocals

The vocal, instruments and backup chorus are all heavily processed and echoed -- and they're all permanent parts of the show.

Re: Distortion in recording

Select three to five seconds of distortion, convert it to mono using Tracks > Stereo Track To Mono. Export it as FLAC and upload it using "Upload Attachment" at the bottom of the message writing page. Are the red recording sound meters going all the way to the right during the recording? T...

Re: Listening and recording at the same time

Audacity does not include ASIO for roughly the same reason it doesn't include MP3 Export. It's proprietary, licensed software. MP3 support is just a matter of downloading and installing the "lame" software package, but including ASIO requires recompiling the Audacity program. It's not the ...

Re: Error opening sound device - record from cassette player

Try this. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is the USB device listed there and does the blue sound meter jump in time to the music? Make sure Audacity Preferences > Devices is selected correctly and restart Audacity. Audacity should list a USB sound device. That hel...

Re: Error Message

What, exactly, are you trying to record? Remember we can't see you or what you're trying to do. It used to work, right? Were you in Audacity when the system invited you to delete the Windows? Do you remember what any of them were? Which Windows have you got? Start > Right-Click My Computer > Propert...

The second listing is for a 78 rpm ION stylus.

I'm still guessing. I don't even know that the ION has a 78 speed. We need the model number to tell.
