Re: How does a newbie reduce bass?
If the venue was getting the show like the audience is getting it, then it's no wonder the sound is off-balance. Many bands let people record them from the audience because they know the chances of getting a clean show are almost zero. First thing you need to know is that if the show started out lif...

Re: Questions regarding saving and loading...
You used the wrong words in the question. You're not loading an AUP file. You're mounting an Audacity Project which is bunch of files managed by the AUP file. Try this. Generate a simple show. Doesn't matter what. Generate > Noise > OK. Save Project As to your desktop and call it TestFile. Close Aud...

Re: how to equalize all waves...
You can use Chris's Compressor to even out the variations between the waves.
Effects > Compress Dynamics
I use it with the compression up to .77 or .8.
I don't know what would happen if you applied it to a bunch of tracks at once. It's not a Batch mode tool.

One of the supervisors on 4West checked in with some ideas. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alesis-ADAT-XT-8-channel-Excellent-condition-studio-kept-/300614326982?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fe029ac6 > Alternately, you could go with a portable digital multi-track and not worry about encoding or dec...

Re: I need help playing MOGG files.
Upgrade to Audacity 1.3 and then install the FFMpeg software from the same web site. http://audacityteam.org/download/ You can put both versions of Audacity on your machine. Audacity tries to open up highly compressed sound files whether it understands them or not. The screech is the difference betw...

Re: Combining Audacity Projects!!
The desperation method is export each one as a WAV and Import each one into one Audacity. That will stack them all up one above the other and you can cut and paste or time shift them using the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows). Edit your brains out. When you export that show to a new WAV, Auda...

Re: a mono track into 4 speakers?
I posted this question to the corporate international email alias and got few responses. Everybody starts with a Dolby AC3 file in order to keep everything in sync. Then they all Full Stop. Presenting it to the audience, and looping it is far more difficult. One suggested a BluRay disk which can be ...

Re: Fade Out -> Fade In
But until they get it done, you can import both tracks so they appear one above the other and use the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) to push one later than the other. Then apply Effect > Fade out to one and Effect > Fade in to the other. Like this. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/CrossFa...

Re: noise removal ??
Noise Reduction is zero on the left and maximum on the right. Start with around 12 or 18. Smoothing helps prevent tinkling and bubbling voices. Tinkly on the left, sloppy reduction on the right. Start with 200. Attack/Delay gives choppy words if it's too tight (left) and noise tails on words if it's...

Re: noise removal ??
I wouldn't use Normalize. Use Effect > Amplify. That sounds like something from one of our India offices. It sounds like a performance in a crowd. What are you trying to do to it? Select a portion of the performance with only the noise. A second or two will do it. Effect > Noise Removal > Get Profil...
