Re: The record button does not record..

re-installing audacity, and installing audacity onto my solid state drive. Unless your SSD is FireWire or internal, I probably wouldn't do that. USB drives have timing problems and can kill productions. How did you reinstall Audacity? Did you do it like this? http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph...

Re: Tick in music

I think if Audacity came up with simple tool for fixing this it would save a lot of cutting. And would make us the biggest heroes on the planet. People would kill for a tool that does that. The tick is part of the show like the guitars and drums. The best you can do is select a short part of the sh...

Re: Audacity icon remains in Dock

I uninstalled Audacity while the icon was still in Dock. And when I rebooted the OS later a "?" mark was in Dock. When I delete an application, the icon stays in the dock and I have to manually remove it. Having the icon change to something else is pretty unusual. How did you uninstall Au...

Re: Tick in music

You have to look at this from a content view, and not from a blue waves view. Can you stand to have a very brief silent hole in the music at that point? Drag-Select the bad blue waves and Control-L -- turn them to silence. Listen to it and if it's OK, do that to the other one. If the performance has...

Re: improving quality of recording

Nobody is giving the ION turntables any awards for quality, just to throw mud in the game. Their tracking and stylus accuracy is pretty awful and there's at least one packed in the garage when it turned out that revamping an existing high quality turntable worked out much better. Just to give you an...

Re: Recommendations for USB A/D Converter and Mic Preamp?

Sony/Philips Digital Interface is one standard way to get digital audio around. There's optical and non-optical. You can usually peek behind the shield (if you have no cable) and see the little red lights in there. I'm in deep water here, but I believe you can conveniently send Dolby AC3 Surround (s...

How do you know what kind of file it is, and does it play in anything else?

Re: How does a newbie reduce bass?

The equalizer tool will also get bigger and more detailed as you pull it bigger and bigger.

There are ways to edit MP3 without recompressing and adding damage, but those won't do equalization.

You need to be in Audacity 1.3 for all this. Audacity 1.2 has problems.
