Re: Seamless loop of engine sound
I never imagined that audio editing would be so complicated Somebody did a home video long ago where they went nuts making a screws and bolts and color of paint exact replica of a television news set. You sat there watching this thing stunned and the suspension of disbelief carried them right up to...

Re: mp3 not recognized
converting old cassette tapes to mp3s and then processing them in Audacity As a completely side issue, that's the not the best idea right there. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It converts MP3s to its own super high quality, internal format and edits that. So far, so good. But then it has to make a new ...

Re: Recording acoustic piano
It's very probably not an Audacity thing. Audacity doesn't apply effects, filters or corrections when recording. Unless you stop it, your laptop will try to set up the microphone for voice communications or conferencing. Voice Processing hates music. Go into the Windows setups and see if you can fin...

Right-click or Control+Tap the music file > Get Info. Screen Shot 2020-07-03 at 8.32.30.png When the info panel arrives Shift+Command+4 and draw a box around it like the illustration. From a forum text entry screen, scroll down > Attachments > Add Files. Select the picture and post it. Koz

Re: Cannot Read Nyquist Files
You have to not only install them, that is, put them in the right place, but you have to introduce them to Audacity. "Audacity, this is effect.ny. Effect.ny, this is Audacity." We're not shaking hands any more, so you'll have to bump elbows...and then wash them. Effect > Add/Remove Plugins...

Re: Exporting file not appearing in windows explorer
Open the AUP file in a text editor and look at it. Don't change or save anything. It should look roughly like this. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/aupFileGraphic-redbox.jpg That's been gussied up a little for the picture, but that's the idea. It's roughly Englishy words. It's a programming ...

Re: won't export
I"m reading a book one chapter at a time. First book? Did you pass either the Audacity or the ACX technical tests? It's a New User mistake to read a whole book and only then stop and find if the quality is good enough. For many home readers it's not and if you really got lucky, you have a non-...

Re: Exporting file not appearing in windows explorer
This came up a while ago. Do not use the following reserved device names for the name of a file: CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9. I checked CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1 and LPT1--all OK, assuming others al...

Re: Exporting file not appearing in windows explorer
What did you call the show? Did you put a date in the name? Use ISO dates. Today is 2020-07-03, not 7/3/20. Slashmarks can confuse the machine. Use Upper case, lower case, numbers, -dash- and _underscore_ only. No other characters. Also stay away from the Microsoft magic words such as COM, LPT, etc....

Re: Switched to Mac, Audacity not recording
I wonder if this glitch will be fixed at some time Nobody's touched support or updates on this program since the Renaissance. That code came from my installer archives. I was surprised you could still get the original download. Somebody must be keeping a server alive in their garage the developers ...
