Re: guitar USB interface
If you're happy with missing the cabinet and room sound, then the output of an electric guitar is perfectly compatible with Line-In (not Mic-In). The only problem is it's mono, but you can change that in Audacity, or just use a Y cable between the guitar and the interface. That's how I recorded this...

Re: Export Multichannel Audio Problem
As common as multi-channel sound is, you'd think managing it would be easier. You are in Audacity 1.3.13, right? Only the latest Audacity versions actually support WAV export in multiple channels -- and even then, nobody wants to talk about it -- like the batty aunt in the attic. Just to cover the b...

Re: Sound not picking up from stereo mix
Win7 is openly hostile to recording YouTube or other internet sound. We have postings that may be able to help. I'm one of the Mac elves, so I personally won't do you a bit of good. I know they hide devices and tools that you need to get this to work. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Mix...

Re: I need to use a master keyboard
We do get posts from people trying to record the music from their regular keyboard that has MIDI control. The temptation is to plug in the USB cable and sit back. That will only get the mechanical key control between the computer and the keyboard, not the music. In the case of a regular keyboard, yo...

Re: guitar USB interface
The exact process for hardware overdubbing is the subject of a thing I'm writing. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/overdubbing/overdubbing.html There are errors and typos, missing links, and orphan ideas yet, but you'd be doing a very close sister to this process. This Shure business is a USB Mic ...

Re: Mackie, iTunes and Audacity....oh my!!!
I really need to have the ability to use iTunes to play an accompaniment while I'm recording the vocals in Audacity. Please help me with any known solutions or suggestions. Wait.. iTunes playback While you're recording a show? I don't understand how you ever got that to work. Two different processe...

Re: newb - wtf?
We live on high quality, tightly granular information. 'I downloaded Audacity 1.3.13?' That's important. The earlier Audacity 1.2 could be profoundly unstable on newer computers. Did you get it from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Which Windows? I open an mp3. How do you know? Windows likes ...

Do you have "Snap To" selected at the bottom of the work window?

Re: Low pass filter
Removing hum is a snap with the filtering tools, removing buzz is very serious and may not be possible. Buzz has the same properties as the music. The Noise Removal Tool in Audacity 1.3 is the only tool I know of to filter out that kind of trash. If that didn't work, the performance may be gone. Noi...
