In Audacity, what do you see if you click on the Input drop-down menu? Are you recording from the right thing?

This laptop has a built-in microphone, right? Can you record from that?

You should never have speakers and live microphones running on the same shoot. The Windows conferencing services will try to "manage" the volume and drive the recording nuts.

It didn't kill the picture, right? Just the sound? Close Audacity and go into the Windows Control Panels > Sound and make sure the webcam is selected as the sound device and not anything else. Probably a USB Sound Device that you can't identify. Also, unplug it and see if it goes away from the devic...

Yes, but... In a mixer that small, they time share some of the controls between several jobs. The second channel is either a Line-In or it's the mix point of the USB music. So it has 1-1/2 channels.
