Re: Monitoring...
Audacity > Preferences > Recording > [X] Software Playthrough... Restart Audacity after you change it. You also need to know that if you click on the red (right-hand) recording meters, they will wake up and monitor the incoming show without going into full record. If you have Playthrough selected, b...

Re: code writing in audacity
Audacity filters like 'make sound louder' or 'compress the sound peaks' is written in Nyquist. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Nyquist_Basics:_The_Audacity_Nyquist_Prompt Chris's Compressor is a very successful sound compression tool written by Chris Capel using those tools. Audacity tu...

Re: Editing a video
Selection B. Audacity doesn't edit video. Export the show at 48000 WAV, not 44100 WAV. That's much more likely to match the video editing software you use. 48000 is the sample rate for video. 44100 is the rate for music CD.

Re: v1.3.12 vs v1.3.13 cutting time
At the end of the week, I'm scheduled to record a completely trivial and unimportant show. At the end of the session, it will not matter to anyone if the recording exists or not.

Re: v1.3.12 vs v1.3.13 cutting time
I only have 5 hrs recording time This would be the place for recording on "Things." You take bag of empty, formatted Things with you to the shoot and slowly fill them up as you go. Pause for two or three seconds, max, to change Things and keep right on recording. I have extra cards for my...

Re: v1.3.12 vs v1.3.13 cutting time
Editing is being done over a network. I'm surprised nobody's jumped on that yet. Earlier versions of Audacity would not run over a network, full stop. They were not "aware" of network delays and it would drive them crazy. The up side is they would go nuts pretty much instantly, so it was ...

Re: Trouble importing audacity files I saved from audacity
try to import music saved from audacity That's the part I'm not getting. You performed a guitar solo into Audacity and then Exported it as a WAV file. Then, when you tried to mix that song with your voice for a podcast, it failed? Take all the step carefully how you got the original music. Who play...

Re: v1.3.12 vs v1.3.13 cutting time
Since I am squeezing about 2 1/2 hours of conversation into 78 minutes We are relieved you're not trying to squeeze 2-1/2 hours onto a music CD by compressing the show in MP3. Lots of people try that. No, it doesn't work. 78 minutes is fixed. You select a tiny portion of the show, <delete> and then...

Re: Incorrect recording
Does the microphone work if you try a straight recording? No fancy overdubbing or tricks?
Start with a fresh Audacity. Is your microphone selected in the Input drop-down menu on the Audacity main window?
