Re: Audacity 1.3.13 crashes opening .aiff files
I have had troubles with the Mac Auto-Open system. We're struggling with a machine now which insists on opening work in an application I don't own. Of course, it crashes immediately. Instead of double-clicking on a music file which leaves the 'open' process up to the Mac, Control-Click > Open With >...

You can use iTunes to convert your music to .m4a. Change iTunes import preferences to AAC - iTunes plus or a custom higher than normal quality compression. Open the music in iTunes and Control-Click on the music > Create AAC version. When you drag the music back out of iTunes, it will be in .m4a for...

Re: Overdubbing problems using ASUS Eee PC - Windows 7
I can properly record Track 1 with no problem, However, Track 2 also records my first track plus anything new I add onto it during the overdub. This also occurs with any subsequent tracks. That one happens when you apply the Windows settings to record internet audio. That process is poison to live ...

Re: Making sounds sound distant
I'll take your word for it because I can't open the file. Somebody posted a question like this in one of the video forums and the responses went for pages -- many of them contradictory. "Add the frammis effect. No, take the frammis effect out." I would drop the low frequency response sligh...

Re: Delay on tracks added later
There's nobody galloping to your rescue because you have contradicting symptoms. What you have now, that delay, is perfectly normal. What you had then, perfect recording, is not. If you are indeed using Audacity 1.3, then I can tell you how to get rid of the delay with Audacity Latency tools, but it...

Since you're on Windows, you may also be a victim of Windows Conference Services. Turn all these services off. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Recording#enhancements One of those services is Environment Suppression. That's where your computer tries to figure out what's air conditioning noise ...

Re: High Recording Volume
You can get unexplained volume changes and management by trying to record through the Windows Conference Services.

One of the services offered by newer computers is auto volume control -- sometimes whether you want it or not.

Re: Help importing "unnamed" wav. files
It's possible you got a plain Music CD and not a data CD with fancy files on it. Use CDex and try to "rip" the disk into music files. If that doesn't work, then try installing FFMpeg from the download site and then try to open the files.

Re: Recording Time seems Excessive
Yes, you do have to pay attention to that. There's two ways to burn a disk. A Data CD which is a flat, shiny hard drive and a Music CD which is a specific way to burn music to a disk -- sometimes called Red Book Standard. Music CDs will play in any Music CD player. Data CDs with MP3s or other files ...

Re: Help for recording beginner who can't get rid of static.
I think the step where you enter the computer is wrong. The performance itself is clear with no distortion in the voice or other problems, however the whole thing is painfully low volume and noisy. The default Effect > Amplify is over 20dB just to bring the show up to natural levels. When I do that,...
