Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

Whatever you did that last time worked well. I applied simple mastering and the clip made it past technical testing, enough so you don't need any other patches or help. MooMooACX-Check.png MooMooTest2-Mastered.wav How close are you to the microphone, and/or are you using a pop and blast filter? That...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

Other than that it's ok? No. There is a tone behind you that doesn't correspond to wall power or any other conventional source. That usually points to the computer fan or some other ventilation system. Is the computer in the room with you? This is where we critically analyze the silent portion........

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

Failure to follow instructions. The panel is very clear you need to leave a healthy silent portion at the beginning of the reading. Read down that blue link. It's very short. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html You may think that's a piffle, but ACX doesn't. They will rej...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

Terrific. There is a simple format issue. See where you produced two sound tracks (stereo) and only one of them has anything (wiggly blue lines) on it? Screen Shot 2020-07-05 at 10.06.25.png Use the drop-down menu from the little black arrow on the left and Split Stereo To Mono. Delete the silent ta...

Re: Strange quality on recording from USB mic

Audacity can make this effect by accident if you have...

Audacity > Preferences > Recording > Playthrough selected. De-select it > OK.

[X]Overdubbing should be the only one selected in that group.

Re: Determining bit depth of audio on a .MP4 file

What is wrong with my approach I don't think you can do that. The encoded and compressed formats play serious games to get apparent good quality with very small files. They don't lend themselves to static analysis like that. For two common, simple examples. Some formats watch the left and right cha...

Re: Determining bit depth of audio on a .MP4 file

32-bit floating point. More specifically, 32-float doesn't overload. If you apply an editing filter that causes the sound to go over 100% by accident, it doesn't trash the show. The sound is still up there waiting for you. You just have to run another effect to bring the volume back down within nor...

Re: USB Mic not working, please help

..There is still a possibility that the mic is defective.
That's my guess. As up the thread, they usually do something even with everything working against them.

Yes. That's a problem. It will prevent the machine from shutting down, too.

Re: Project crashes when I hit "play," and some recordings play back sloooow

This rings a bell. Do you use the toolbar on the bottom of the screen? Does yours pop up when you scroll to the bottom so you can pick an application? You don't have to do it that way. You can leave it visible at all times or I think you can put it on the side of the screen. Most people just leave i...
