Depending on your machine, you may not have enough zot (technical term) to play and capture at the same time. In that case you can use one of the DVD ripping software packages to rip the video into local filesets and then use those.

Google Recording Skype with Audacity. There was a YouTube video going around a while ago that used an odd condition of speakers and microphone to do a recording. I don't think they were after theatrical/entertainment quality, though.

It's difficult or impossible to gracefully record Skype in Audacity. Skype insists on the supervisory role in order to maintain a clear conversation, and that frequently messes up other recording software. What commonly happens is the plugin uses fancy graphics and tools to control the effect, and Audacity doesn't support the graphics.

You can go back up and get the FFMpeg software. That's the one that allows you to recognize and play compressed music files other than MP3. Stock Audacity has no idea what a w4a file is and neither do I. Do you mean m4a? That's an iTunes AAC sound file.
