Re: improving quality of mp3
OK. I pulled the links down. I don't think it's the quality of the MP3 here. The file sizes are pretty good. However, the original capture is pretty sucky. The music management is off-balance and overloads frequently down the song. The red bars in the picture represent permanently damaged music, eve...

Re: Windows XP shuts down while recoding vinyl
I think there should be an inspection of your hard drive. Audio production fills up your drive in a hurry. Once the room on the drive shrinks to a certain amount, there isn't enough to run Audacity or Windows. -- Defrag -- Right Click Start > Explore > Right Click Local Drive C: > Properties (Used, ...

Re: improving quality of mp3
explain as if i was 5 "One of these files is not like the others...." Sorry. One of the reasons you don't want to use MP3 as production masters is permanent damage. MP3 gets its amazingly small files and efficient downloads by changing the sound around so it's easy to compress. If you get...

Re: importing multiple audio files
It's scary that their Windows is hiding all filename extensions whether they're "common/known" or not. Used to be that .aup was an oddball and so Windows wouldn't try to hide it. Apparently, them was the olden days. -- Hidden File Extensions -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options ...

Re: recovering unsaved files
No. Audacity 1.2 had pretty awful disaster recovery. The master files and raw music are still OK, right? So you're not in the position of somebody who blew away their only copy of a vital interview. We recommend saving a slightly different Project every ten to fifteen minutes -- or sooner if you're ...

The instant anybody has trouble with Audacity 1.2, we push you off to Audacity 1.3. Clean out all your lame installs and get lame for your new Audacity from the same web site. Do Not use anybody else's. Koz Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated. Audacity 1....

Re: Acceptance criteria for audio
Point us at one of the YouTube channels. If you've had multiple complaints, they must have said something other than "Poor Quality." What are the actual quotes? "I can't understand your words." "It's so echoey. Did you record those in a barn or bathroom." "It's cru...

Re: Audacity crashes instantly when opening/editting files
It reads like a small, personal nuclear event inside the computer. How long are these shows, how many MP3s and how long are they? Are you doing complex editing on a six-hour long show?

Re: Recording Level vs. "listening" level... need assistance
The process of recording "Internet Audio" involves running both the record and playback sides of the computer at the same time. You're stuck with both volume controls in the circuit. I use a separate external amplifier with volume control and speakers. You can use headphones with built-in ...

Re: Removing vocals
Effects > Vocal Removal It rarely works perfectly because anybody who puts special effects or echo into their voices messes it up. You need to start with a really high quality stereo show. Also, you're left with a mono show, not stereo when you get done. Koz --Voice Trap http://www.cloneensemble.com...
