Re: Analyze Default?

Just thinking about this. I spend some considerable time making sure I have appropriate tools ready and in good order before I go out and get a job. The Audacity way is to get the job first and then hope to goodness the tools show up. Also, it suggests that you should have a job already working befo...

Re: Strange quality on recording from USB mic

Doesn't happen on TW Probably not the best idea to use abbreviations in a technical discussion. Oddly, settings changing by themselves is a symptom. That means something is on your machine changing them. The usual culprits are chat/conference or multi-user games, and since this is a tag discussion ...

Re: Analyze Default?

You should have these Tools by default:
Yes, that part works.

I misspoke. It defaults to no Analysers.

The goal was to add ACX Check before I knew what the work or show was. I wasn't expecting a blank slate.

Analyze Default?

I'm bringing up a new Mac under High Sierra 10.13.6. I installed Audacity 2.4.2.

It defaults to no tools. Effects gives a long list of gray tools with four of them active.

Is this normal?

Re: how to separate two voices on a recording

frequency of the main voice You may be singing a single note, but because of overtones and harmonics, you're actually singing a basket of different tones—and some of them are common between different voices and instruments. Before you sing another one, make sure to sing an overdub test first and se...

Re: how to separate two voices on a recording

If you are overdubbing, make sure your Audacity microphone is set to an actual microphone or mixer and not a software device or redirection. That's the most common cause of a new voice mixed with the backing track by accident. If you like to record Youtube or other music, then that setting is going ...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

One last common mistake. When you read a chapter, Export it as WAV, mistakes and all in addition to anything else you do. Don't touch that any more except tp copy it if needed. That's your backup if anything goes wrong in editing or production and the show crashes or fails to open. That makes it so ...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

ACX has posted messages that they are running in overload and it may take a while to get to your work. That's one reason submitting on the forum first is a good idea. We're faster.

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

Start with your posted sound clip and see if you can get the same results I did. Post where you get stuck. If you succeed, you may want to try submitting a test to ACX. ACX starts with The Robot who automatically tests about the same things Audacity ACX Check does. Are you overloading, how loud is i...

Re: Acx newbie - Budget acoustic treatment?

One other note. Don't overdo the silence, either. That can throw off some of the other tools. 2 seconds is about right.

That's called Room Tone. The sound the room makes when you don't make any sound.
