Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)
Back in the Dark Ages, I would create a graceful fade on the sound board by evenly pulling the fader to zero (all the way down/towards me in the US.) Faders are, in general, audio taper, which is roughly DB until it gets close to the bottom when it turns off completely. They frequently click down th...

Re: Clipping/Distortion/Fuzz at Low Recording Volumes
Isn't that option there because not every player supports variable?

Re: Incorrect AAC Opening
It's your opinion that Mac Audacity should be able to open and export AAC files just fine because it uses Quicktime Libraries?

Re: How to recored a set using USB MAYA44 ?
Step one: Audacity doesn't support ASIO, so that takes care of four channel sound right there. Windows Drivers only support stereo (2). You're going to need to fill in come of the holes. Nowhere did you tell us what the mixer was and you only suggest that there is some kind of external mixer. Hardwa...

Re: Wont record other than through "Software Playthrough"
I suppose the first thing you need to do in Audacity is turn Software Playthrough off and work from there. If you get the red recording meters and the blue waves on the timeline, then you are making a recording, even if you can't hear it. The Recording dropdown and Windows Control Panels all should ...

Re: Low pass filter
There are ways to buy equipment that work very well but are dead-ends. Not expandable. The very good quality USB microphones are in this camp. One microphone is perfectly OK, and many podcasts have been done with them. Two dips into black magic and sorcery and you can't do three at all. When you get...

Re: Setting up Aduacity to record from net.
As a fuzzy rule, we answer questions in Audacity 1.3 - speak, so it's good to get stuck in that version. Audacity 1.2 is no longer actively supported and we have to get the guy out of the retirement home to get answers. Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer supported, patched, corrected, or updated...

That should work on Windows XP pretty well. WinVista and Win7 make it harder and harder to deal with this.

Re: improving quality of mp3
The fuzzy rule of thumb is to capture slightly low. Never capture at the deliverable volume. You get that in post production. Slightly low is correctable in Audacity and many other programs. Too high produces overload which is permanent and fatal. I wonder where the show got the sound from. Usually,...

Re: improving quality of mp3
Oh, and it's as loud as it's going to get without serious, custom compression tools. It's actually too loud. That's what's causing those red bars.
