Re: Numark soundcard cant get it to record in Audacity
Yes. Your connection should go to the Line connection on the same side as the phono grounding connection and phono input RCAs. Were you able to find the USB device in Audacity Preferences? How long have you had the mixer? It seems to be a nice one, although I do have one objection which may be a doc...

Re: Remove glitch
That will sound wacky if all you try and do is cover it up. What you're supposed to do is match the beats and take out the off-rhythm pieces. You're stuck with an actual editing job. Sorry. Find the downbeat just before the glitch and the one just after and mark each one with Control-C or Command-C....

Again, the pictures are scrambled, but you should plug the mixer into the Line connection on the sound card on same side as the Phono connection. I swear they have the wrong picture up there.

Re: Numark soundcard cant get it to record in Audacity
If all the moons and stars line up and it's still silent, there is a pure analog test you can do. I don't have a picture of this, but you can jam your earbuds or headphones into the end of an RCA connector and hear the show. It's a given that the headphone connector has to be 1/8" and not 1/4&q...

Re: Numark soundcard cant get it to record in Audacity
You have Master Out 1 from the mixer plugged into the Line connections of the sound card, right? Do you have the Phono switch set to Line? The sound card pictures on the web site don't show a USB connection. Am I looking at the right one? Anyway, restart the computer with the sound card plugged in. ...

Re: Multipile tracks - one will not play
Yes, but the project may be pre-damaged. Audacity 1.3 will open a perfectly well behaved 1.2 project.

Re: balancing audio channels
Please note that MP3 compression damage is cumulative. If you open up a 32 quality MP3 file for editing, you would have to export it at 320 MP3 or WAV in order to avoid increasing the sound damage. So you can't re-edit MP3s in Audacity -- which brings us to the recommendation that you archive all wo...

Re: balancing audio channels
Ding! Wrong Answer. MP3 compression is an indicator of quality. A High Quality mono show can be compressed with 32 MP3 quality and produce an OK but not great show. Compress a High Quality Stereo show at 32 and you'll get bubbly garbage. Audacity uses 128 for Stereo default as most people can't tell...

Re: Mixing vocal track and instrumental track together
You have two mono tracks one above the other, right? Leave the vocal track alone and stop using "Normalize" and the other tools. Start over with fresh tracks (you did save archive copies of the original performances, right? Use WAV, not MP3.) Use the volume sliders to the left of the instr...
