Re: Recording Piano Through USB Cable
Can we assume you're on a Windows machine? The USB connection is MIDI. It's machine control -- push that key for five seconds. It has nothing to do with sound. As you may already know, you can change the sound that any key makes in MIDI programming -- or by changing the midi devices. Sound is comple...

Re: Saved mp3 files lose sound quaility
The reason we tell people not to do production in MP3. You can export the new MP3 in 320 quality. That should sound pretty much exactly normal. You can also export as an uncompressed file format like WAV or AIFF. What you can't do is export the same file size as before. MP3 compression damage and di...

Re: Microphone problem - need HELP!
Thanks for giving us enough information to dig this out. Now we just have to do it. OK. Straight dynamic microphone plugged into the Mic-In of the computer. What does the 1/8" plug look like? It's supposed to like like this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jpg If your 1/8" c...

Re: Channels are too high
It sounds like it's OK because you're using 32-bit floating format for your capture. That means you can Effect > Amplify and bring it back down to normal. If you try to export a sound file without correcting it, the show will be trash. It may be trash anyway. You need to reduce the level of the show...

Re: Only Exporting Single Song
You should stop using Audacity 1.2 immediately. It can create problems on newer Macs.

Re: Setting default zoom level
I don't think I've ever used the default zoom tool. I drag-select some portion that I want to look at and Zoom In Control/Command-E. Zoom Full with Control/Command-F and zoom out slightly with Control/Command-3. That's it. I edit multiple hours of radio shows each week with just those. It's not clea...

Re: OSX Lion - Motu 828 in - can't find the audio
I would probably go to the trouble to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13. The last two or three Audacity versions on Mac had significant differences.

If the meters are jumping you have sound. You may not be able to hear the show, but that's different. Where are you listening? I'd have my headphones plugged into the MOTU, not the Mac.
When you monitor, do both the red and green meters jump?

Re: ?remove noise form mic cable short
That's not a sound file. Can you Export a clip as FLAC and try it again? You won't get much further than five seconds or so, so pick a segment with an error in the middle. Thanx,

Re: Pitch
And I can't stress enough a high quality microphone and good recording environment. Nothing screams "Mom's Basement" more than room echoes (bathroom sound) and scratchy or thumping presentation. Post a little of your work. An MP3 would do it, although better is about 3 to 5 minutes of FLAC...
