Re: WAV file extension changes to "file", not WAV

So it is nothing to do with hidden file extensions.
Yes it does.

When you're lost or confused, the worse thing you can do is let Windows hide things from you. Default Windows will show you Music.8.wav and Music.8 as the same file name -- but one them will be mysteriously broken.

Re: WAV file extension changes to "file", not WAV

I think the first thing you should do is force Windows to show you File Extensions so you have some idea what's really going on. -- Hidden File Extensions -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ] Hide Extensions for Known File Types (deselect) -- Apply (to this folder) or Apply t...

Re: Recovering lost audio files

It's very common for newbies to save their editing changes to the original file and have hours -- or days -- worth of work under one Project. If you have a microphone amplifier with no microphone, it will generate significant noise. That's why it's important to keep loafing microphone a...

Re: Clearing noises from recording

dzień dobry

I'm not at a machine where I can listen to the show, but high noise level is very evil. If the Noise Reduction software in Audacity works, the actor may sound like they are underwater. I will listen later.

Select 'Play a track while recording...', and de-select software playthrough and hardware playthrough if you have both. Restart Audacity. Press Record and the system should play the original track and le...

Re: Bit New to this but cananyone helpme?

If you import two different sound tracks into Audacity, they will arrive on two different timelines one above the other. You can then use the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows) to force one of them later than the other. You can then use the Envelope Tool (white arrows and bent blue line) to fad...
