Re: Recording using an external sound card?

Are you looking at the Audacity Drop-Down Menu, or Audacity Preferences > Devices?
it works great for playing streaming audio, and line input devices.
If you couldn't get it to work, how do you know that?

Re: Creating a Robot Voice, "Roger, Roger"

Without renting the movie, you can try the Vocoder effect. It combines your voice with another sound in such a way that it appears, for example, that your guitar is singing. The final effect would depend on your second track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YR_Bjf-a5rs On top of that you can use Chan...

Re: random stop

Audacity Preferences > Recording > [ ] Sound Activated Recording (deselect) Having that selected by accident can do that. Do you have enough hard drive space for a recording? Audacity Preferences > Directories Does that location have enough space for the work? Also, Audacity doesn't like capturing o...

Re: Sampling from an audio track

This is similar to the solution I wrote for another poster who also wanted to cut down a large sound file.

Re: Can Audacity Edit This?

You can certainly do this manually. Play the segments and place labels at musically appropriate points. Control-B. The points can't be further apart than 78 minutes.

Re: Can Audacity Edit This?

Music CDs don't go by data size, they go by time. 78 minutes. Import your show to Audacity, tell it to place labels every 78 minutes, then Export each segment as a separate sound file. You should NOT export as MP3. That will create compression sound damage. Export as Microsoft WAV and the quality of...

Re: Recording a guitar with mp3 files

My guitar is plugged into the microphone input of my desktop. Does your desktop have a Stereo Line-In (usually blue)? That's much more likely to be compatible with your guitar. A guitar pickup is pretty powerful and it's usually just slightly quiet compared to a regular stereo line signal. It's muc...

Re: Muffled voice: suggestions?

There are standard upper numbers. FM radio has music between 20Hz and 15 KHz, which is why FM always sounds so much clearer than AM radio which only goes up to 5KHz. Classic Land-Line telephones only go up to 3KHz -- just barely enough to get words to go through --- and no more. Lower than 3KHz and ...

Re: Creating corrupt 16-bit Windows WAV files

Yes, it happened to me, too. HiHat in Hash out. I think you're watching Audacity not be a WAV editor. The scientific community notices right away that when they put very specific things into Audacity, very non-specific things come out. Audacity converts everything to a very high quality internal for...
