Re: Normalize effect and Loudness normalizer effect: Difference?
You mention other tools, are they super important for beginners There are no audiobook beginners. ACX, and I understand the other publishers, expect you to be "Retail Ready" when you send them voice work. ACX publishes help pages and videos, but isn't interested in teaching you one-on-one...

Re: Normalize effect and Loudness normalizer effect: Difference?
It just feels like you're trying to read for audiobooks. Did I hit it? Effect > Amplify works from blue wave tips and peaks. Effect > Normalize used to as well with a couple of additional variations thrown in such as DC removal. Loudness Normalize is very different. The two variations are RMS and LU...

Re: Audacity and Microsoft OneDrive Conflict
My preference is hardware solutions first because it hard to work around those in an underhanded manner. I'm fond of "air gap firewalls," too. Shut down the machine and disconnect the network. Start. That will do two things, it will tell you how connected you are to other products and serv...

Re: Time Shift macro?
invert them and cancel out specific audio Can you do it manually? "I need to cancel out two tracks" is usually a Phrase of Doom. You need to make changes down at bit level and have two nearly identical, not just close, performances. That's not easy, and you have to do it intentionally, no...

Re: Strange quality on recording from USB mic
@mafg1953 That's good stuff. I'm going down those links to see what's going on. So Zoom was paying attention. I can see them bumping into the people with underpowered computers trying to manage four good quality sound pathways at the same time. They can't just give up on the conference. Nobody is go...

Re: Strange quality on recording from USB mic
That illustration shows earbuds for monitoring. I used them because they were pretty and available. You can force them to work, but you're really supposed to use something with gooshy pads on your head so the headphone sound doesn't leak into the microphone. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/C...

Re: Strange quality on recording from USB mic
Yes, the microphone has its own headphone connections provided for latency-free, perfect monitoring, but how you get there isn't simple. The microphone doesn't have a separate headphone volume control and they make you do it in software. That's on page 7 of the instructions. http://www.samsontech.co...

Re: Audacity crashes when I add an extra track
I just hate when we do that and there's nothing wrong. Are you close to overloading your machine? Probably not important, but we should remember that tiny convenient MP3 and M4A files explode to many times their apparent size because Audacity decompresses and mounts them as super high quality sound ...

Re: macbook recognises xternal mic, audacity won't
I think that's a reference to the newer Macs which are radio terminals and have only one connection for everything, correct me, including charging. So there is no such thing as giving a USB microphone its own connection. There is always going to be some octopus device in the middle. But to the quest...
