there is an annoying "ringing" sound that runs all the way through the file.

Re: Loud buzz when USB Audio Mixer connected

Should I replace the laptop with a Mac?
I'm not a good one to ask that being one of the Mac elves.

Setup to record so you can see or hear the buzz. Disconnect the laptop wall power and make it run on batteries. Disconnect the network if it's hard-wired.

Still buzz?

Re: Recorded sound is as if it had been miked from far away!

Recorded sound comes across as if it had been miked from far away! Sound through the computer speakers is perfect while recording on Audacity (1.2.6 and 1.3.13).
If the computer speakers are perfect, when or how is the show broken?

Re: Audacity hangs whole system, black screen, can't launch

I'm running Lion on a Core 2 Duo system. I note you're going to a lot of trouble to avoid using the word "Mac." It's not a Mac, is it? Did you build it yourself? Audacity can be one of the few applications that tries to use lots and lots of memory right away. If you have a bad stick in hi...

Re: help wanted -- person to compile and test Audacity on Ma

This has come up before. I can tell you I'd help, but I know it wouldn't work. Plus you need a stable current OS and I don't have Lion on anything. One machine is scrambled OSs and the other is Leopard. Koz

Re: Pitch Change

You can analyze the oboe "A" at the beginning of the orchestral work. With a little effort that should tell you where the oboe actually is and give you the "from" number. Past that, I know of no way to divine where the music is.

I'm going on about this because you can't take out echoes in post production. It's the leading cause of death by microphone.

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice

The buzz is coming from the lead guitar player's amp. Now you can tell him/her, "See, I told you people were going to hear that," (even if it doesn't appear in the show). That's a good excuse to get it fixed. Nobody would show up at Glen Glenn Sound Studios with a buzzy amp. No, I only he...

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice

Anybody can rip a fresh recording apart and I have some content comments, but try to avoid base rookie mistakes. The samples seem pleasant to listen to, but they seem to be playing to different rhythms. How are you doing your overdubbing? Most computers need a little timing help if you didn't use pu...
