Pause the show and Control-B. Or you can do it on the fly.

Re: Steinberg CI2 + G4 Mac = clipping
Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Select the USB device and the blue ball sound meters should tell you the level you have -- before the rest of the computer gets to it. I'm guessing you ignore the Steinburg clipping lights and set the microphone levels so the Mac is happy. If th...

Re: Recording direct into PC sounds delayed
Yes, that's correct. That's input-output latency and it's built into your computer. We are preparing an extensive document on overdubbing. In the case of the guitar, you should be able to use one of these USB adapters. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg Plug in your guitar...

Re: Need help to remove extra Audio
29.97 is the native frame rate of analog video in the US. It was chosen to make the color television system look better compared to 30 which was the framerate in black and white. 29.970... is an abbreviation, the real number never comes out even on purpose. 23.976 is the 24 film rate adjusted to be ...

Re: Paste without inserting?
No one-step solutions, but you can Import the filler audio on a separate track,Time Shift it over to the hole and trim it so it perfectly fits. When you export a new rack, the patches will be integrated without changing the time.

Re: Clicks and pops
Our AUP music format doesn't post well. You'll need to post either a lightly compressed MP3, or better, the original WAV files.

Re: saving a partly done recording session
When you get to the end of a production session, Save an Audacity Project. Call it something with an ISO date in it. 20111205, not 12/05/11. Never put punctuation in filenames. Then, the next day, double click the AUP file and it should open the show from the _DATA folder with all the tracks in thei...

It won't come back even if you use the Time Shift Tool -- two sideways black arrows?

Re: Need help with deleting part of track
You can get this effect if you tell Audacity to only cut or process on zero-crossing boundaries. If there's audio "sticking out" to the left of the selected edit point, it can be pushed earlier than time zero.
I can't find that preference setting, but I'm still looking. Koz
