Re: usb and analog

Many computers and Audacity only know about one sound device at a time. On some machines you can combine two USB devices in the "Aggregate" service, but the two devices you use should match, like two USB microphones.

Re: why when i record a track its off a couple seconds!!!! h

Are you recording a live performance and then playing it back? Step one. Get a new sound card. That should do it. Inexpensive sound cards don't pay any attention to the accuracy of their recording and playback sampling. Most of the time, nobody cares. If all you do is listen to YouTube, this will ne...

Re: Audacity hangs whole system, black screen, can't launch

I just figured that since I was posting in a Mac forum that it would be taken for granted that I was using a Mac. Nobody posts in the right forum. That's the last thing we depend on. You could have a "Fake Mac" based on an Intel substructure and that downloaded pseudo OS-X that's been run...

Re: Audio overlapped - un-overlap?

Another possibility is trying to record Stereo Mix instead of a microphone or other "real" connection. You could easily get the show twice, once direct and once "one computer late" which might sound like two shows. I'm in an insanely noisey room so I can't listen to the sample. Koz

Re: Audio overlapped - un-overlap?

I'm not able to listen right now, but when you watch the timeline, do you have two sets of blue waves instead of only one? If you stop recording by accident and start up again, you will get two separate tracks and they will both try to play at once. You can export each one of those separately and ge...

Re: Recording Songs + Voice?

First step is stop using Audacity 1.2. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/update.txt I can tell you exactly how to do this with two computers and a mixer. The problem is you have multiple different sound pathways needed and computers have exactly two. In and Out. So what you do is cue up your effect...

Re: I need to remove all audio below a certain db.

There is a Noise Gate tool and I think it's a separate install to Audacity 1.3. I need to check. The chances of it doing what you want is almost zero, however. It is worth a shot. Voice isn't a thing you can easily manage. It's like accurately and surgically separating a patch of grass from within a...

Re: Can't listen to my download

Few consumer recorders produce uncompressed, well-behaved, WAV files, and the newer ones don't produce common MP3 files, either. If your recorder produces AAC, M4A or other highly compressed filetypes, you'll need to install the FFMpeg software to Audacity. http://audacityteam.org/download/ The phra...

Re: Switching from PC to Mac

And that's not a Mac thing. If your show depends on external music files, you won't be able to move it between PCs, either.
