Re: making a demo of my band, need advice

our drummer has problems.
So it's not just me.
All problems are not data related.
Once a long time ago I worked with a guitarist that, in the short form, couldn't tune his guitar. Played like a dream as long as somebody else tuned it.

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice

I swear there's something off with the ordinary rhythm. In "Pretty Woman," the Audacity lead-in and the drummer are not in sync. I keep wanting to reach over and push the beat a little sooner. Did you go through and set Recording Latency before you started live recording? If you didn't get...

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice

That's much more like it. You had me worried there. I'm collecting notes.
You have each instrument and voice as separate dry tracks, right, and you're effecting and mixing your brains out?

Re: Newbie noise reduction help

I do a little video editing but the audio has always been in another hands. You had the easy job. (I in fact knew the audio would need a little cleaning but wow I had no idea). Sound kills more shows than pictures. You can't just zoom in a microphone like you can a camera. We can't tell which versi...

Re: 44.1khz, 48khz or 96khz

... but if I try to change the material to 96khz in Audacity, it shrinks the song to less than half length and I turn into the Chipmunks. That's strange. You should be able to export to a different sample rate (or different bit-depth) without problems. It does that if you convert the project in the...

Re: Input Volume Control

You might consider an RCA to 1/8" adapter cable like this... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg and plug it into the Mac Stereo Line-In -- the circle with two black arrows. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn.jpg If you only have one Mac connection, then it needs ...

Re: Low input level with no control in 1.3.14

Not even sure how that condition got cleared. You have a number of symptoms of an unstable system. When was the last time you restarted from power off? Do you have enough drive space -- at least 10% free? Disk Utilities > Verify Disk and Repair Permissions? Have you ever run the Periodic tools? Koz

Re: Low input level with no control in 1.3.14

(I did switch from 24bit to 16 bit recording) When you get done with your work, try switching back. Also, you can start Audacity from First Birthday by editing its preference file, or since you're on a Mac, just delete it and restart Audacity. -- Trash Audacity Preferences (On Mac, trash Go > Home ...
