There's a thread from somebody with a rock band who really needs to mix down many multiple tracks to stereo. He keeps getting really close through painful, detailed track adjustment, but so far no cigar.
What did we decide? Thread petering out isn't going to do it. Koz

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice
I have been working on giving myself headroom on all the tracks but it's taking a while There is an interesting extended discussion about simple tools to make sure your final Export doesn't clip. All Audacity does is add everything up and have a happy day. It's insanely easy to create clipping dama...

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice
I liked the YouTube version of the band.
I'm crystal clear what a pain in the butt this is, but I would kill to record one of your live performances -- well. I couldn't hear keyboard -- or it wasn't obvious. I couldn't pick it out. Who does the live mix?

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice
Conversion to MP3 creates damage. MP3 intentionally re-arranges tones, waves and quality to make the output file more efficient. If you're already .000002 dB away from overload, MP3 will kill you.

Re: making a demo of my band, need advice
You are so doing this wrong.
"I think I can do my guitar part better, what's the chances of a re-do?"
"Good night that's a lot of work, how much beer do you have?"
This is a picture of all your overload points. Never normalize or compress to zero. Use -1. Koz

Re: Newby needs help recording from keyboard to laptop
I use the Headphone connection on my keyboard and adapt that to my computer and/or sound system. You could use a "Y" cable and run both at once.
I have a Mac, so I have a Stereo Line-In. Many Windows machines need additional hardware.

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
Do two screen captures and post them using "Upload Attachment" under the forum text screen. One with a song from CD Doctor and the other, the same song in Audacity illustrating the damage. You could also Export a small portion of the damaged sound as FLAC and post that on the forum, too. Y...
