Re: Cannot Install FFMPEG
We need one giant step backwards and tell us what you're doing. What's the job? Exactly. One driver is for MP3 export and the other is for FFMpeg format conversion. We won't know what you need until you tell us what's what. You should get the drivers and Audacity 1.3 from the same place. http://auda...

Re: Please Help
Audacity 1.2 is not supported under Mac-OS-X 10.6. Under certain conditions, it won't even launch. Download and install Audacity 1.3 from here and get the FFMpeg from the same place. http://audacityteam.org/download/ FFMpeg should come with its own installer. Double click on the package and it shoul...

Re: Interface trouble
This microphone takes 48v phantom power. Unplug and replug both ends of the mic cable -- or change the cable if you have more than one.
Nice voices -- particularly when the system is not adding trash.

Re: Interface trouble
Crash Report would indicate that there is something wrong with the computer interfaces or bitstream. Are you going through a USB hub anywhere? Audio hates going through hubs. Home Runs or dedicated runs to the computer always. Exercise the connectors. Shut down the computer and unplug and replug all...

Re: can't record wha happened?
We can sometimes tell people to try recording from their built-in microphone, but your computer doesn't seem to have one. Unplug the microphone from the computer and unplug and replug the cable under the microphone several times. Replug the computer and restart Audacity. You might also restart the c...

Those are USB, Universal Serial Bus, like the three on the right... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg Before those, everything had their own different connector -- and sometimes different between manufacturers. Audacity doesn't complain about anything? "Unable to find dev...

Re: Guitar Link to Audacity Problem
Do into Audacity Preferences and change the Quality 32-bit floating to 16-bit and see if that doesn't help. Restart Audacity.

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
This one? http://store.griffintechnology.com/imic You're not using it like it was intended to be used. The Line-In is for a stereo CD, Cassette Player or music mixer. The other connection is for a "computer microphone" like this... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg The i...

Re: clipping-top of one channel only
If you mess something up in the encoder (iMic) the right channel is the one to take the hit. I, too, believe the Audacity version.
What's the iMic version or model number?

Re: How to spot a 256kbps mp3 transcoded to 320kbps
Many straight, plain sound systems won't go beyond 20KHz. Anything recorded at 44100 sample rate will die about there, like music CDs.
What's the real job? What are you doing? You didn't get up this morning saying, "Today I think I'll try to find the difference between two MP3s."
