Re: Error while opening sound device

You should follow the instructions provided in the other postings. This isn't the first time people have had troubles doing this task. The instructions can produce new sound devices and pathways on your machine and the errors may go away.

Re: Error while opening sound device

How are you recording your streaming radio program? That's not at all easy to do on Win7.

Re: Importing WMA

Another way is to adapt the headphone connection to a recording device. Most DRM will not follow an analog pathway. You're probably not going to be doing this with your Windows Laptop, because you can't use the Mic-In. You can use one of these.. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg A...

Re: It gets worser everytime I play it :¬o

Listen on a different machine. All the elves that listen hear no difference between the loops. You can get distortions like this if, for one remote example, your sound card is adding DC or battery voltage to the speaker or headphone connection. Over time, the sound would distort as the diaphragm or ...

Re: Can poor audio input be improved?

Export about 10 seconds of it as FLAC format and upload it to the forum. Use the "Upload Attachment" tab underneath the text entry screen. If it's straight frequency response problems, we may be able to make a curve for you. If that's too big, try 8 seconds. Do you have a cassette machine ...

Re: 44100 at 16 bit limit?

There is a tiny bit of damage when Audacity converts from 32-float to 16-bit when you export for the music CD. So if you know you will never be filtering or adding significant effects, 16-bit works fine. 16-bit is good for something like 96dB between the noise floor and overload. That's 20dB headroo...

Re: It gets worser everytime I play it :¬o

Another possibility is degenerative feedback from recording Stereo Mix or What U Hear. That opens up multiple sound pathways and while it makes recording from the internet really nice, it can destroy home recording.

Re: It gets worser everytime I play it :¬o

It sounds fine here -- through all the loops. Have you turned off Windows Conferencing? You only obliquely said you were on Windows, but Out Of The Box Windows now comes automatically set up for Windows Conferencing. As part of that service, you get auto gain control and echo cancellation -- whether...

Re: cursor control for editing waveform

No. That is called "scrubbing" and Audacity will not do that.
