Re: Confused about getting from iTunes to Audacity
Everybody gets this wrong because it's "downhill" to make music for an iPod, not further production. Step one is prevent iTunes from compressing the work. Just rip the CD, stop helping me after that. iTunes Preferences > Import CD > Settings > WAV Format (not MP3, not AIFF, not AAC). Put t...

Re: On using Audacity for podcasting
The encoder stops for a doobie between the left and right channels. Stereo is discrete left and right channels. You could, if you wish, have completely separate shows on left and right and the system wouldn't care. Joint Stereo cares. Joint Stereo is two channels, but they're not left and right. The...

I've never gotten Garage Band to work, either, although people have. I do everything in Audacity using those instructions. In general, you use one of these cables... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/RCAMiniStereo.jpg To connect your mixer or other stereo player to the Stereo Line-In of your Mac. T...

Re: Adding Silence
There isn't one that does fractions like 1/3. The closest you can get is milliseconds, the decimal version of fractions 0.333. Many options and standards in Audacity were designed to be open ended -- beyond current capability. "I tried recording low quality surveillance and Audacity crashed aft...

You don't have to be evil to get on a Black List. Our entire corporation got on a blacklist once by a bad choice of email recipients by somebody on the fourth floor. Getting on one is largely automated but to get off, you need to know the particular systems operator currently vacationing in Ibiza. I...

Re: Recording echo
When I record back a click track to try to fix the recording latency How? How are you setting latency? The trick with this is having overdubbing set in Audacity preferences and not Playthrough. Overdubbing will just record one pass and tell you what the latency value is. Playthrough is a feedback/e...

Re: Microphone problem - need HELP!
The slight difference between the length of the tip and ring isn't a big deal. The system has a certain amount of slop built into it. However, I have had connectors with broad shoulders like the black adapter hit the side of the sound card before the gold pin gets a chance to make good contact insid...

Re: Latency Error==I can no longer overdub
That's what the Overdubbing setting does. It allows Playback and Recording of different tracks at the same time. Just a suggestion from the error logs. You're trying to play and record from two different USB adapters? I can well imagine that might drive the system nuts because it's trying to juggle ...

Configure Windows first, then launch Audacity.
