Re: Muffled car music sounds?

Low Pass Filter set around 250Hz. Move that up and down (200, 300) to get the effect you want. You may need to set the loudness levels after you do that. Effect > Amplify > OK. There was a cartoon about Jonah and the whale and Jonah is listening to heavy gospel rock inside the whale. Scene cuts to l...

Re: Recording voice while playing music

We do warn you that you need to be able to make a simple recording with your microphone before you try any of this fancy stuff. Can you do that? Press record and capture your voice in a simple track.

That's the hard step.

Re: Recording voice while playing music

Yes. You can set Audacity Preferences > Recording > [X] Overdubbing to on and [ ]Playthrough to off. You may still get timing or rhythm problems in the mixed show, but you can fix those with the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows). See if that's going to work for you. If you need to get fancier,...

Re: Extremely high audio levels from Sony USB turntable

Which model number exactly?

There's a vey good chance you're not recording the USB signal from the turntable because you have no volume control over that and having a level that far wrong is highly unlikely on a name-brand turntable.

Audacity Preferences > Recording > [X] Overdubbing.

You probably should have any [ ] Playthrough options turned off.

Re: 1.3.14-beta WINDOWS 7 32 bit does not recognize USB port

How do I get an update driver for Tape2USB that is compatible with Windows 7. We'd be Googling. It seems the device is discontinued. You could call them or dig in their web site for legacy drivers. I'm surprised that Windows couldn't find it. Playing a cassette tape into a computer is not rocket su...

Re: Exporting increases file size

I think it's "MP3SPLIT" that we recommend for jobs like yours on Windows. Audacity is not an MP3 editor. When you import music and export a new song, Audacity has to create a whole new MP3 file from scratch. That means the exported file conforms to the specifications of Audacity, not the o...

negligible compared with the cost of having 100’s of CDs made. ...and cover art, etc. etc. All gone. All you have to worry about then is the web site design, host and compression. One of the problems of on-line distribution is quality. Music CDs are uncompressed and essentially a perfect copy of th...

Re: Help before I send files to be mastered

Thank you , but what I was after was more the 10,000 foot (3300M) view. They are accepting your stereo work and preparing it so it hangs together in a pleasant and desirable manner as a sequence of songs on a music CD. If I had to guess... I think I'd be finding out for sure myself. "Can you st...

Re: It gets worser everytime I play it :¬o

Go ahead. Ask me how I know that. "There's how many volts of battery on the speaker lead? That is so wrong." It's remarkably difficult to manage battery in audio systems, particularly speaker and high power. Older sound cards can create significant problems as their parts degenerate. Reins...
