Re: Audible Click at Beginning of Every New Track

Your capture equipment may be in trouble. You can get a condition like that if your digitizer is adding a DC level to the sound. The baseline, the center point of the blue waves is not in the middle. You won't notice any significant problem until you export segments, or try to mix with other normal ...

Re: Not Recording from Microphone problem

constant door slamming and screaming from next doors kids which is louder than blowing into the mic I don't think that's quite the case. I think you'll find that blowing into the microphone is so loud that it can get you a significant repair bill on some microphones. Stop doing that. If you need to...

Re: Recorded Sound Wave Style

I wonder if that's not a restriction in the Windows video drivers or video card. I've never seen a blocky waveform in multiple computers -- all three Operating Systems. What's the resolution of the screen? The screen I'm using this second is 1600/1200. The ones at work are full HiDef 1920/1080. Star...

Re: Waveform inversion and the 0 dB ceiling

So nothing you do is going to change that music and I think the elves are agreed that using 0 as a target isn't a good idea, either. Too many things can go wrong with a music track constantly on the edge of overloading. Use -1 for everything.

Re: Waveform inversion and the 0 dB ceiling

There is no "only clipped in the original version." Once you take the tops (or bottoms) from a waveform, you can never accurately put it back. Here's a transmission I got from NPR with serious and permanent clipping. I reduced the volume of the show to pull the waves down from the yellow l...

Re: Overdub Recording Problem

Do you like to record internet audio like YouTube or other music web site? It sounds like your computer is trying to record "What the Computer Is Playing" rather than just the straight microphone. You can go into the Windows Control Panels and see if the system is set to record from the Mi...

Re: Waveform inversion and the 0 dB ceiling

32 Float is handy if you do processing or effects that result in your show going seriously over "0" (remarkably easy to do, by the way). Watch all the red overload indicators, reach over to Effect > Amplify and bring everything back down again. No harm done. If you exceed 0 at the capture ...

Re: My playback sound is distorted?

record my commentary. I use Pinnacle Studio 14 to record my gameplay.
Two recording programs running on the same machine at the same time? I don't think Audacity has ever been able to do that.

Re: Two Recording Devices

The short answer is no, but I bet the electric piano isn't USB Audio. I bet it's USB MIDI -- machine control. My keyboard has USB MIDI and I connect the Headphone Out (real audio) to Audacity for recording. http://www.kozco.com/tech/organfinale.mp3 Look at the piano instructions carefully. It's poss...
