I can think of one condition that wouldn't work. Audacity on Macs includes built-in "AU Effects" not available in Windows. If you call one of those in a Macro, then no, that's not going to work. You do have to pay attention.

Which Audacity are you using? Chains are called Macros now. It should be possible to write a Macro on one machine and have it work on another. What happens if you try? Are you trying to send a Macro to someone else? Write a simple one and see if it works. Start > Reduce volume by half > Stop. Koz

A word on dark themes. We are advised in the last hour or two before bedtime to reduce screen brightness and if possible greatly reduce the blue content. Make everything dark, sunset orange.

We should be careful that the operating display doesn't vanish when we do that.

Is the bottom one your control or voice track? It's not even close to being loud enough to trigger the ducking action. Select the bottom track and Effect > Amplify > OK.
